Do You Know Who I Am?

Welcome back, my Pretties!

In my last post, Clutter Control: 6/30/11, I showed you all the NYX stuff I got at a great discount at my local outlet mall.

The drastic discount was due to the store not selling any more NYX so they were getting rid of all their inventory--even the testers. My biggest problem with the testers was that they didn't have names. They did have numbers, however.

I compared the numbers on the palettes I got to the numbers on the NYX website and some of them were way off. And others, I just couldn't find anything that looked close enough to it.

I'm going to show you the eyeshadows and blushes with the names I found that corresponded to the numbers on the palette. Will you please help me find the right names to go along with my goodies, please?

♥♥ Those marked with a ♥ I believe could be in the right place. ♥♥

There you go! You can see that so many of these are not in the right place. Some of them might be, but so many of them are obviously in the wrong place. Not even close!

There are so many reasons for this.

The numbers on the palette are in order but the shades don't quite fit the name that corresponds to that number according to their website.

Some of the pans were lose, so maybe they all moved around a bit and got out of order. Or, the correct shades were never in the correct palette at all.

Whatever the case may be, you can see that I need your help. Help me find the right names/places for these eyeshadows and blushes, please.

I know the names aren't important. I'm just OCD that way and I'd like to see them all in the right spot with the correct name.

The good thing is that they are just taped on with double-sided tape so I should be able to move them around to their correct home without much of a problem.

Leave me your thoughts in the comments below. Thanks so much for your help!!

Clutter Control: 6/30/11

A long while back, I guess about two months ago, I went to the outlets in Mercedes which is about 30 minutes from where I live. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, just an outing with my sisters and our mom.

I was passing a fragrance outlet store when something caught my eye. They had a table displayed with makeup in the window. I could of sworn the nail polish bottles were NYX. Granted, this was before I had ever seen NYX products in person and I had just placed my first ever NYX order online just days before.

My sister asked if I wanted to go see and I said yes, of course. And it was NYX. They were having a huge sale on NYX. The sales woman could see my excitement and brought over a little basket for all the goodies I was grabbing. I ended up with 3 nail polishes, 3 lip glosses, 2 lipsticks, and 2 eyeshadow singles. I believe the sale was 5 for $9.99. (I forgot to do a haul post on these. I'll try and get around to that soon.)

When I was heading to the register to pay, the sales woman told me that she had some eyeshadows in the back for $1.00 and told me to wait. So I did.

She came out with 3 different palettes. One held NYX eyeshadow singles, one held NYX eyeshadow trios, and the other one held NYX blushes. I'm an eyeshadow person so I was studying the single shadows looking at which ones I wanted. Then she proceeds to tell me that the whole palette was $1.00! What the what??

The palettes she brought out were the ones they put on display and because the store was no longer going to carry NYX (hence the great sale) they were getting rid of the testers as well. I was really excited. So, of course, I bought them all. Even if they were testers, I'd clean them up!

OK, now I'm finally getting to the point of this post. I needed to clean up the palettes and the pans were no longer sticking to the palette anymore. I want to get a Z Palette or something like that but for now, I'll have to keep them the way they came. This is just a quick fix.

Items I need to do this project.
NYX Eyeshadow Trio: $3.00
NYX Eyeshadow Singles: $1.00
NYX Blushes: $3.00
Double-sided tape
Scissors
Sharpie
Labels
Alcohol (not pictured)
Felt (not pictured)
Wet rag (not pictured)
NYX Blusher Tester for $3.00

Turn palette over upside down with the lid still on.

Remove the black plastic palette.

All dirty. I am very anal with my makeup.
It has to be clean!

Clean the palette with a wet rag.

I cleaned the backs of the pans too.
Be careful not to mix up the pans because they are in order.

Get some alcohol and a piece of felt.

Wipe down the backs of the pans and the palette.

Add a piece of double-sided tape.

Remove the backing.

Stick back on to the palette.
Ta-da!

Now I used the Sharpie to write the names on the labels.
Each blush had a number underneath it so I looked up
the names online using these numbers.

I stuck the labels to the back of the palette.

Repeat the process for the eyeshadow trios...

...and the eyeshadow singles.
Even though I had to do this and the fact that some of these items were used while others were broken, for the price, I'm not going to complain. The blushes were more beat up than the rest while the eyeshadow singles looked practically brand new. I just know I got an awesome deal. I spent $7.00 for 12 blushes and 59 eyeshadows. I'm really happy!

While each palette had the number stuck on to a corresponding eyeshadow/blush, I don't know if they are all correct. I compared them to the ones online and some are wrong for a fact! And some I just couldn't find anything that resembled it. So...yeah....

I'm going to need help from all of you that are more familiar with NYX because I certainly am not. I will do a future post enlarging the eyeshadows and blushes so that you can tell me if they are correct or not.

Will you help me, please?

FOTD: MAC Trip Warm

Hello, my Pretties!

I have very few MAC items in my makeup collection and I just got them all last December. I got some for my birthday on the 21st and then more four days later on Christmas. I have not bought any more MAC since then. In all honesty, it is just too pricey for me and my budget.

So, since I have very little MAC, I don't like to use it all the time. I don't know, I guess I'm trying to make it last as much as I can. LOL. And while I usually use it for special occasions and outings, I decided to use it today just because.

Today I used my MAC Trip Warm Eye Shadows 6-pan palette.

I know it's noon on a Thursday and I'm just here at home wearing a tee shirt but this is a really nice look for a date night. I haven't been on one in ages but I assume this would be a fitting look!

I love these eye shadows very much. I love the way they all blend together so effortlessly. All the shadows can be worn together, as I did, and it looks pretty. Very complimentary. I'd have to say that Bagatelle, Expensive Pink, and Trax are my favorite!

I would say these shadows are on the neutral side. Nothing to bold and crazy bright so this would be a wonderful day time look as well, just switch up the red lip for a nude gloss.

I'm laughing at myself now because it's pouring rain outside, can't go anywhere. I'm just here at home in jeans and flip flops watching Yo Gaba Gaba with my girls and I'm wearing red lipstick! Haha, whatever makes you feel pretty, I say.

FOTD: Galactic Realm

I've been on a roll lately with these FOTDs. I'm surprised myself!

Today's featured eyeshadow is also a new one. I've had this one forever and I just opened it today. This past week or so has been like Christmas. LOL. Opening new (but old goodies I've had for a while) is really fun!

I used Golden Glow as my blush
and Poppy Bouquet just as a cheek highlight.

I used the black shade in Galactic Realm as a liner
on the upper and lower lash line.
I also added the purple shadow to the lower lash line.

I used the white shadow from lid to brow bone.
The purple shade went in the crease.
The gray shade went above the crease.

I had been really proud of the looks I had done this week. I think I fell short with this one. To me, this one is one of those times that the shadows look better in the pan than they do on the eyes. That's my opinion.

I am not too crazy about this look. It's not bad but it's just not all that good either. The shadows were really soft and smooth. Applied well and blended easily. It's just...I don't know...boring, maybe?

It's just that it looks soooo pretty in the palette. I am a little disappointed, I admit. Oh well, no biggie. I can't remember the exact price. I bought it at Wal-Mart and it wasn't more than $5.00 so...

Even though this wasn't one of my better looks, I still decided to share because of the simple fact that nothing is wonderful all the time. LOL.

Fail??
