Swatches: Dark Heart Designs: C-D

Hello, my Pretties!

Back in August I shared the news with you that I had been selected as a partner in Dark Heart Designs Swatch Program.

I get sent samples of the products to swatch them for Tina, the owner of DHD.  There was a handful of us chosen to participate in the Swatch Program.  Tina picked all of us based on our skin tone.  We submit the swatches to her which she then posts on her website so customers can see what the products will look like on their skin.  I think it's a great idea!  Different colors show up differently on different skin tones.

In the first wave of swatches, we got sent: 5 eyeshadows, 1 eyeliner, 1 lip gloss, and 1 lipstick.  This time we got 11 eyeshadows and 1 face primer.

To see that post, click HERE.

Here was what was in my package this time around.

Like last time, Tina included a handwritten note of thanks.  I think that is really sweet that she takes the time to do so.

Inside the note card were the sample baggies of the 11 shadows and face primer.

I just ADORE how her sample baggies have the shadow names printed on them.  I don't know how she does it but I love it.  They look great!

This phase of the Swatch Program included the shadows with the names starting with C-D:
Catalyst, Charmed, Clean Slate, Coral Fang, Cotton Candy, Crash Love, Curse, Deal, Dirty, Dirty Diana, Dragons and the Face Primer.

Here is what I swatched the shadows with.  I used Dark Heart Designs Magic Eyelixir.  You just add a drop or two to the powder shadow to make it wet and it totally intensifies the shadow to the max!

You can purchase the Magic Eyelixir for $2.99 for the small vial (4 mL) or pay $4.99 for the large vial
(8 mL).

And last time I failed to do a swatch using a popular base.  Last time I did the swatches on bare skin (no primer, base, or Magic Eyelixir).  I saw that the other girls in the Swatch Program did their swatches on bare skin, over NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, and mixed with Magic Eyelixir.  I could not find my NYX JEP in Milk for the life of me (and I have 2 of them!) so I just used the next best thing, NYX Eyeshadow Base in White.

And here are the swatches:

Catalyst

Charmed

Clean Slate

Coral Fang

Cotton Candy

Crash Love

Curse

Deal

Dirty

Dirty Diana

Dragons

All of these shadows can be purchased at http://darkheartdesigns.storenvy.com and retail for $5.99 plus, all the shadows that I swatched are VEGAN too.

See all 69 shades of shadows by clicking HERE.

As for the Face Primer, you can PREORDER yours for $10.00.  The Face Primer is available for only a limited time and come in a 1 oz. squeeze tube.  Check out the primer HERE.

FOTD: Alluring Touch

Hello, my Pretties!

After I had posted my Kleancolor Buy & Blog, which you can see HERE, I intended on posting this FOTD right after.  But I didn't.  Sorry it's late but here it is.

Face ingredients.

FACE:
E.L.F. All Over Cover Stick in Honey
Avon Smooth Minerals Liquid Foundation in Medium Beige
Milani Minerals Compact Makeup in True Beige
Kleancolor Multi-Color Blush in Brazilian Rose

EYES:
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
Kleancolor Loveville Matte Shimmer Duo in Alluring Touch
Love Me 365 Gel Eyeliner in Violet Purple
Maybelline Falsies Flared Volum' Express Mascara in Black

LIPS:
Avon Lip Stain Marker in Heart

I don't think the pigmentation was bad at all for only having paid a dollar for the eyeshadow palette.  It's quite nice.

I did yellow on the inner corner of my lid and orange on the rest.  Purple was added into my crease and blue to my lower lash line.

This is by far my best work but I don't think it's bad for the amount of money I spent on my Kleancolor products.  They were very cheap and work very well.

I think I will like to try more Kleancolor makeup.

Luv & Luk,
--L.

EOTD: Grassy Knoll

Hello, my Pretties!

Finally, at last we are here at the end of my L.A. Colors 3 Color Eyeshadow trios series. Yay! And last on my list is Grassy Knoll and you know why. It's green! I cannot pull off green for the life of me.

I did this look this morning and took photos but was so disappointed in the way the photos looked. I don't know what it was. I didn't want to post that up on my blog so I went ahead and redid the look.

I had a light lip before, I vamped it up. I went easy on the liner before, I added some to my waterline. Granted, I'm battling a cold right now that started this morning and quickly progressed into full on grossness. My eyes have been red and watery all day. Sheesh.

I promised all my tweeties that I would really try and have this final look up tonight. So, I will do my best while I sneeze my head off and sip on hot water with lemon and honey. Woo hoo...

By now you all know that I don't work well with green eyeshadows. I don't know what it is but I never think they look good on me. That is why I waited till the end to use these. I was hesitant because I knew I probably wouldn't like it. But, I'm the kind of girl that I see a makeup item in more than one color and I want them all. Just to have! Crazy, I know.

But in all honesty, I actually liked the way this turned out. I can't believe I'm saying that about green eyeshadow but I mean it. I think it actually looks nice. I think it was the revamping I did that saved this green eyed monster.

OK, my dollies, I'm out for the day. I'm sick as a dog (whatever that means) and I really do not feel well at all. I plan on curling up in bed with all my binkies (my blankets) and relaxing with some TV while I wait for the sweet-tart to get home from work. At least that's the plan. The baby is still up. Hmph.

Oh, and in case you want to know, here are the links to the other three L.A. Color 3 Color Eyeshadow looks:

EOTD: Shooting Star

Hello, my Pretties!

Back on September 27th, I purchased some L.A. Colors eyeshadow trios from my local Dollar Tree for a dollar a piece. Great deal! Even better deal when I got home and swatched them and saw how wonderfully pigmented these cheap shadows actually were.

I promised that I would show you these eyeshadows in action and although it has taken me a long time to do so, here is the first of 4 looks.

L.A. Colors 3 Color Eyeshadow
in BES502 Shooting Star.

Swatches.

Purple in inner half of lid and lower lash line.
Blue in outer lid and lower lash line.

Pink in the crease.

Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick in 502A Dark Pink Frost
Avon Healthy Makeup Lip Cream in Peachy Keen

Full face shot.

Ingredients.
FACE:
Avon Care Moisture Replenish Daily Hydrating Cream with SPF 15
E.L.F. All Over Cover Stick in Honey
Avon Smooth Minerals Liquid Foundation in Medium Beige
Avon Anew Age-Transforming Pressed Powder in Tan Beige
Avon Smooth Minerals Blush in Blushed

EYES:
NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk
L.A. Colors 3 Color Eyeshadow in BES502 Shooting Star
E.L.F. Liquid Eyeliner in Black
Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara in Black
Dior Diorshow Mascara in Black

LIPS:
Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick in 502A Dark Pink Frost
Avon Healthy Makeup Lip Cream in Peachy Keen

So, I don't know about you, but I'm really liking this trio. The colors are very nice and apply very well. They are smooth and blend out easily. For me, the blue shade was the most pigmented, and the pink the least. But hey, I am loving them all. And just knowing that I paid a buck for this, makes me love it even more!

Finger Painting: Frankie Fingers

Hello, my Pretties!

It feels like ages since I last blogged. So much going here on but I won't go into that. All that matters is that I am here now!

Last blog post was on a NYX nail polish by the name of Lime. I didn't like the color too much until I decided to do a Halloween inspired Frankenstein nail look. This was my first serious try at drawing on nail art. I cannot draw with a paper and pencil so this was such a feat! But it really was fun.

I got my inspiration, or should I say, I copied this look from goldiestarling on YouTube. She has an awesome channel so I do hope that you will check it out!

Here is the direct link to goldiestarling's nail tutorial:
Halloween Nail Tutorial Lil' Frankies

Here is my version of this really cute look.

3 coats of NYX in Lime.

Add a head of hair with black nail polish.

Add some sideburns with black nail polish.

Dot on two eyeballs with white nail polish.

Draw on some eyebrows with black nail polish.

Draw on the mouth and stitches with black nail polish.
(Sorry for the blurry image. You get the idea.)

Dot on two irises on the eyeballs with black nail polish.

Make sure the whites dry well or else the eyeball
will travel like mine did here.

I used the thumb as my accent nail.
All other nails were given a French mani with black tips.

But the sweet-tart wanted me to do all the nails Frankie.

And here is the final full set...top coat and all.

Nail ingredients used:
NYX Nail Polish in Lime
L.A. Girl Matte Flat Finish Nail Color in Matte Black
Avon Nailwear Nail Enamel in Cloud 9
Wet n Wild Clear Nail Proctector

So, I know goldiestarling's was so much better but this was really fun. I know most of you will be able to do this very well. If I did it semi-good, some of you will rock this look!

I just thought that this was a fun way to feel festive this Halloween season. I highly suggest that you all try this one!

SIDE NOTE:
Since I first did this look using the actual nail polish brush and a tooth pick, I did get a nail art brush from my sister. She begged me to do her some Frankie Fingers so I did and in return, she gave me a Milani Nail Art Polish in a light green. I just use the brush now! I wipe off the green polish and dip it in the black nail polish and the mouth, stitches, and eyebrows can be drawn on so much better. I highly suggest you get one!

Finger Painting: Lime

Hello, my Pretties!

It's time for another (finally) Finger Painting post! I haven't done one in a long time. I usually only have time to polish my nails once a week and I usually use that to do them pink for my Pink Wednesday's post. But this weekend I squeezed in a non-pink hue.

Check out my green thumb!

NYX Nails

One of my three NYX nail polishes. I need to get me some more!

Such a pretty lime color.

NYX Nail Polish in Lime

PERFECT name! I don't think there is any other name that this nail polish could be called. Lime is what it looks like to me. A nice juicy ripe lime. Hmm, now I'm craving a limeade.

Ingredients

I personally don't check the ingredients to my nail polishes but I know that  a lot of you do. I might just start posting the ingredients to my nail polishes in my Finger Painting and Pink Wednesday posts.

After one coat.

After one coat, I was so not impressed. It was fairly sheer. While the formula was nice, not to thick and not too thin, it applied smoothly but not evenly.

After two coats, not much changed. There were still uneven blotchy looking parts but I knew that a 3rd coat would do the trick. I really do not like having to do a 3rd coat. For me, 2 is my max.

In the bottle. No flash.

After 3 coats.

Perfect even color.

In bottle. With flash.

I was iffy of this polish...

but it's so bright, how can I not love it?

I have to say that my sweet-tart was the one who wanted me to polish my nails this color. I gave him all 3 of my NYX polishes to choose from and this is what he chose. And I like it! Thank you, honey! Muah!

My final thoughts on this polish...IT'S A KEEPER! Despite having to apply 3 coats which I think is one too many, I love the final results. The color is bold and its shiny. It has a very uniform appearance after the 3 coats. And just so you know, the swatches of the nail polish with the flash is closer to the color as it is on my nails in real life. The no flash photos don't do it justice.

Thanks for stopping by, my dears.

Luv & Luk,
