INFLUENSTER: NYC New York Color Liquid Lip Shine

Hello, my Pretties!

As you all know, I received my Influenster Holiday VoxBox on December 13th and I have been slowly using the products included in my package.  If you want to see my post on my Holiday VoxBox arrival, click HERE.

I will be doing individual posts on all the featured products in the Holiday VoxBox.

Next on the list is, New York Color Liquid Lip Shine.

NYC Liquid LipShine

Here is what the Influenster information card had to say about New York Color Liquid Lip Shine:
"Straight from the city that never sleeps, New York Color's Liquid Lipshine is uptown style at a down-to-earth price.  With pure pigments that create a 3-D gloss effect and vitamin E that provides shine and moisture, this product is perfect to keep lips looking and feeling fabulous this season.  Comes in 10 shades from neutral nude, to berries & fuchsias."

Nude York City

I received the neutral nude mentioned in the information card.  Look at it!  It's so pretty.  It's a very shimmery nude gloss.  I am new to nude shades on my lips so when I saw this gloss in my VoxBox I was very disappointed.  Never judge a book by it cover!

Flat yet flexible sponge applicator.

After applying the gloss to my bare lips with this strange flat sponge tipped applicator, I fell in love with this gloss!  Seriously.  I had been wanting to try out the nude lip craze that everyone is so into but I always felt my skin tone was just too dark for nude lips.  This shade did not make me look washed out or sickly and pale.  It's sparkles and brightens up my face.

Swatch.

Here is a swatch of this lovely gloss.  I think this looks wonderful on my bare lips but I can see this being used with a bold lip as a top coat just to warm it up a bit and tone down a harsh dark lip.  It has a lot of shimmer to it!  Perfect for the holidays and New Year's Eve parties.

Oh, and it's so moisturizing!  I love how it feels on my lips.  It's not drying or sticky at all.  Sticky glosses are a major turn off for me.  It's not a very thick formula either.  It glides on smoothly and evenly.  I can't get over how non-sticky, super glossy, and soft this lip gloss is.

0.24 fl oz 7.2 ml

Oh, and did I forget to mention the way this gloss smells and tastes?  Upon first application, I did not notice a smell or a taste because I was chewing my Mentos Pure Fresh Gum at the time.  But after using it a second time, I smelled such a sweet scent.  Like marshmallows!  It smells delicious!  And the taste is just as sweet.  I don't know how to describe the taste.  It's sweet.  I'll stick to my marshmallow reference.  It's nice.  Not to overwhelming at all.

Over all, this is a great gloss.  I love NYC products but I have failed to try this one before.  Thank goodness for VoxBoxes or else I might have never tried this product.  Now, I have to buy the other shades!

Collection: NYC Lipsticks

Back in April, I did a mini haul post of some lipsticks that I bought at Wal-Mart. I purchased 4 NYC lippies and 1 Wet n Wild lippie. And the best thing was that these lipsticks were only $0.93 each!

The original blog entry was posted on Saturday, April 23, 2011 and you can check it out HERE. Originally, I had just posted pics of the lipsticks and swatches on my forearm.

But today, to show off my complete collection of NYC lipsticks, which consists of just these 4 lipsticks I purchased at the same time, I am going to show you the swatches on my lips. It's just funner this way.

NYC Ultra Moisture Lip Wear Lipsticks
Net wt 0.11 oz (3.4g)
$0.93
Left to Right:
301 Cafe, 309 Sheer Red, 316 Blossom & 319 Violet Shine

301 Cafe
Cafe is really pretty. It's a very wearable, neutral shade. It is shimmery, though. There are tiny gold reflects all through out this lipstick. I think this would go very well with a smoky eye. It's understated.
309 Sheer Red
Ah, one of my favorites! And I'm not a red lipstick wearer. I did apply this lipstick heavily but you can get a very sexy sheer red, hence the name, out of this one. It's a classic red, perfect for a pin up look. It's creamy and sans shimmer. I love this one. I love it applied lightly too which gives me that sheer look.
316 Blossom
Blossom is hot. It's such a hot pink! This lipstick is so cool because it has purple reflects that sparkle! It's so girly and Barbie like to me.
319 Violet Shine
I would name Violet Shine as my other favorite. It's a more wearable pink than Blossom. It's on the creamy side too. Not too much shimmer here but it does have some. I am new to wearing pink lipstick so I think this one is a good start for me. It's not bold and it's not pale, you can definitely tell you are wearing pink. So pretty.

OK, dollies, this is something new that I thought of doing. Showing you some of my little collections one collection at a time. Did you all like this one?

I have several other small collections I would like to share with you all so if you are interested, let me know!

FOTD: Silent Treatment

Using my Wet n Wild palette yesterday for the first time, motivated me to use other Wet n Wild palettes I have stashed away in drawers still unopened.

I have so much makeup that is still in the original packaging. I don't know what I'm saving it for but it's time to bust them out!

So here is another Face Of The Day using Wet n Wild once again. This time it's the Silent Treatment trio. This is a very nice, very wearable trio.

And since yesterday I did a bold eye with a neutral lip, I decided to switch it up today. I'm doing a neutral eye with a bold lip. Smart, eh? LOL.
Today's Face Ingredients.
Face:
Avon Healthy Makeup Mousse Foundation in V201 Medium Beige
Avon Ideal Shade Smooth Mineral Foundation in M01 Transparent Glow
Avon Smooth Minerals Blush in M102 Hearty Peach
E.L.F. Shimmering Facial Whip in Citrus

Eyes:
E.L.F. All Over Cover Stick in Honey
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Wet n Wild Liquid Eyeliner in Black
Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara in Black

Lips:
CVS Chap-Block Lip Balm
NYC Lipstick in 309 Sheer Red

I applied the eye shadows the way it is advised on the eye shadow themselves. The peachy cream on my browbone. The dark chocolate sparkly brown in the crease. The smooth shimmery taupe on the lid.

I am pleased with this trio. The colors are well pigmented and apply very smooth with no fall out. The shadows are easy to blend as well. They are soft and the color is easily picked up with a makeup brush. Very good product.

I can see this everyday look turned into an evening look just by going a little heavier on the eyeliner and another coat of mascara. What do you think? I think it's a versatile look.

Thanks for joining me yet again, my Pretties.

My Favorite 10 Nail Polishes: Part Two

And finally, here come the other 5 nail polishes I compiled in my "favorite 10" nail polish category. As usual, I am late with this post. But I'm starting to think that you expect me to be running behind schedule. LOL.

Left to Right:
Wet n Wild Wild Shine Nail Color in 414A Red Red
Avon Matte Nail Enamel in Grey Cement
Avon Speed Dry Nail Enamel in S206 Electric Purple
N.Y.C. Long-Wearing Nail Enamel in 115A skin Tight Denim Creme
N.Y.C. Long-Wearing Nail Enamel in 109A Pink Promenade Creme

Swatches with flash.
Left to Right:
Red Red, Grey Cement, Electric Purple,
Skin Tight Denim Creme, & Pink Promenade Creme.
Swatches without flash.
Left to Right:
Red Red, Grey Cement, Electric Purple,
Skin Tight Denim Creme, & Pink Promenade Creme.

Red Red is my favorite shade of red that I have. It's such a true, classic red. Looks more orange in the pictures, though.

Grey Cement looks just like wet cement to me. No shine at all. Makes me want to write my name in it with a stick.

Electric Purple is a fun, flirty creamy purple. Has a lot of pink to it.

Skin Tight Denim Cream is such a fun name and such a pretty blue. True blue. More of a metallic finish.

Pink Promenade Creme is also a fun shade of pink. Very bright and girly.

Did you, Pretties, like this Top 10 type of blog post? I was thinking of doing some more. Maybe my next one could be Top 10 Lip Glosses? What do you think? Let me know!

Swatches: Dollar Tree E.L.F & L.A. Color

I posted on Saturday that I had gone to Dollar Tree because my sister said that they had a lot of really cool L.A. Colors eyeshadow palettes. I went and did not see a single one.

But I did buy other beauty products. You can check out that haul HERE.

On Saturday, I posted the haul as soon as I got home so I hadn't even opened the packages yet. I did say I would post the swatches up later that day but, yeah, that didn't happen. And my Sundays tend to be even more busy than my Saturdays.

So, now it's Monday and here are the swatches:

Swatches.
Left to Right:
Liquid Makeup, All Over Color Stick,
Nail Polish in 247B (top) and
209 (bottom)

L.A. Color Pressed Powder in BPP321 Beige.
LOL, I just noticed I cut off the swatch of the pressed powder.
It blended in with my skin that I when I cropped out the picture,
I didn't see it and cut it out the photo.
Oops!
Note: This sponge is so super worthless. Super cheap quality!
E.L.F. All Over Color Stick
Golden Peach

L.A. Colors Liquid Makeup in BLM312 Creamy Beige.
One drop did this to my forearm.
ONE DROP!
Very runny and I thought impossible to blend out...

but it did blend in.
Very nicely too.
I just don't know if I want to blend it in for as long as it took.

N.Y.C. Nail Glossies
Nail Polish in 247B.
Dark teal with blue undertones.
Looks almost black.
Very runny, needs 2 coats.

Haul: Wal-Mart NYC & Wet n Wild Lippies

On Sunday, April 17, I went to Wal-Mart with my sweets. He was looking for a pellet gun or something like that for his nephew. As you probably can tell, I'm not an "outdoors" kind of gal so, I let him browse around sporting goods while I took a trip to the cosmetics department.

I was looking at the Hard Candy line because I've been dying to try it but not sure what to get. Any recommendations? So, I didn't get any Hard Candy but I did see that the NYC lippies were $0.93! Cool. I never buy lipsticks. I'm an eyeshadow person. I decided I needed to start adding lipsticks to my collection.

I picked up 4 NYC Ultra Moisture Lip Wear lippies and then I saw that Wet n Wild also had their lippies for $0.93! Yay!

I looked at the WnW lippies colors that were available and I saw that the selection was so bare. There were only about 4 different shades to choose from. All the other slots were empty. So, of the four that were left, two I had, the other I didn't like so I ended up with one Wet n Wild lipstick.

Here are the shades I picked out:

NYC Ultra Moisture Lip Wear Lipsticks
Net Wt 0.11 oz (3.4 g)
$0.93
Wet n Wild Lipstick
Net Wt 0.13 oz (3.6 g)
$0.93

Left to Right:
301 Cafe (NYC)
309 Sheer Red (NYC)
316 Blossom (NYC)
319 Violet Shine (NYC)
529B Copper Dust (WnW)

Swatches without flash.
Top to Bottom:
Cafe, Sheer Red, Blossom, Violet Shine, & Copper Dust

Swatches with flash.
Top to Bottom:
Cafe, Sheer Red, Blossom, Violet Shine, & Copper Dust

5 x .93 = $4.65. For lippies? Woo hoo! Even after adding the tax, this was a pretty good deal.

I have used Cafe, Blossom, and Violet Shine. Cafe is really pretty but looks very light on my darker skin tone. Blossom is probably the pinkest lip color I have. It's almost too Barbie pink but it didn't look horrible on me. I did add a touch of a nude gloss on top to tone down the pink. And I really did like Violet Shine. It's pink but much more subtle than Blossom.

Of all the shades that I picked up, Sheer Red is the only lippie that is creamy with no shimmer. All the other lipsticks contained shimmer in them.

All the lipsticks applied smoothly and easily. No tugging, they are very creamy. Although the Cafe one is very soft. The lipstick itself is a bit wobbly in the tube. It has indentations on the sides where it has touched the rim of the tube during application.

But for 5 lippies under $5, I will not complain. I like them. I went out of my comfort zone on some of these shades but for $0.93, I had to! If these lippies were say, $5 a piece, I would have only picked up Cafe because that is a color that I am used to and feel comfortable in. No better time to evolve and expand my tastes than when I find something cheap!

Wishing all My Pretties a perfect day!
