30 Days of Beauty: Day 1

Hello, my Pretties!

While browsing my Facebook timeline, I saw this makeup challenge.  But I can't remember who posted it so whoever did, thanks for sharing!

I know February only has 28 days but that's alright.  I still decided on doing the challenge because it seemed fun.  I might do all 30 or I might just end up doing it for February so that it will total 28 posts.  Knowing me, I'll end up missing a day or two... or three...

Day 1: Favorite Lipstick

I picked a lipstick that I reach for quite often.  I have a lot of lipsticks so the fact that this one has a nice rounded tip and no longer that "brand new lipstick slanted tip" means I have gotten a lot of wear out of this lippie.  In my opinion it is the perfect everyday shade.  It's a very wearable pink shade that can be used day or night.

My favorite lipstick is Avon's Totally Kissable Lipstick in Mauve Allure.

This puppy glides on like a balm but has incredible color payoff.  It feels so creamy and comfortable on the lips.  Very moisturizing and smells good too.

I love this lipstick!

...I should have bought a backup.

Swatch & Yearn: Wet n Wild Megalast Lipsticks

Hello, my Pretties!

Today I am bringing you a mini swatch-fest!  Can you believe I have had these photos in my computer since April 22, 2013 and I am now just posting them?  Yeah, if you know me at all, you can believe it... Sigh.

I purchased these Wet n Wild Megalast Lipsticks at my local Dollar General and I believe I paid $2.00 for each one.  I am not 100% positive since I did purchase these 5 months ago but I'm like 80% sure that I paid $2.00 per lippie.

First up is 900B Pink Suga'.  Of the three Meglast Lipsticks that I purchased that day, this one is by far my least favorite.  I saw it nude in the tube and I wanted it badly.  I had been wanting to try the nude lip trend for a while so when I saw this one, I figured $2.00 was a good price to pay just in case I didn't like it.  I didn't.

It is way too light for my skin tone.  It looks grossly pale on my lips.  No thank you.  I have used Pink Suga' since but I use it as a topper to go over a too dark lipstick to mute it.  It works well for me in that sense.

Next in line is 904B Rose-bud.  Now this is a color that I can, and have gotten, a lot of use out of.  It's a richly pigmented pink.  This one can appear a bit bright on me at times but it's a very wearable shade that I enjoy using a lot.  Winner!

And lastly I have 915B Spiked with Rum.  I love this color!  I am not sure why it photographed so lightly in the tube but the swatch on my lips and inner wrist is true to color.  Even though I bought this back in April, I can see myself using this a lot this fall.  It is a rich wine color.  Again, another winner!

Over all thoughts:

I have been a huge fan of Wet n Wild for years and it is difficult for them to disappoint me.  These lipsticks were no disappointments!

Granted, I wasn't crazy about Pink Suga' but that's just because the color was all wrong for me, in my opinion.

The formula is really good.  It's opaque, it's long lasting.  I thought the lipsticks weren't as creamy as others but they held on to the lips beautifully.  Once applied, the color didn't budge.  Because they are "megalast"ing, I felt them a bit dry on the lips but a swipe of lip balm on top fixes that issue.

And of course, you can't beat the price!  Even though I'm not 100% of the price, I'm pretty sure that I only paid $2.00 for them.  I more than sure now.  Yup.  $2.00!  They are a steal at two bucks!  I need more and that's for sure.

So, what colors do you have?

Buy and Blog: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks

Hello, my Pretties!

Last month I posted part one of this haul post which you can see HERE.  The last post showcased four NYC Long Wearing Nail Enamels and this post will focus on the other beauties I bought that same day...four Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks!

I have not used Revlon lipsticks since junior high.  My sister had given me my very first Revlon lipstick and while I can't remember the name of it, I can remember the smell!  I hated it!  It was so strong and perfumey.  Haha.  It tasted exactly like it smelled.  I did not appreciate that at all.

So since then, I never EVER used Revlon lipsticks again.

I believe I made that comment on Twitter one day and one of my Tweeties told me that the formula had changed and they didn't smell/taste bad at all anymore.  Well, now, I'm intrigued.

It just so happened that the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks were on sale at my H-E-B grocery store and I picked up a handful.

According to my receipt, these lipsticks are regularly priced at $4.97 and the coupon was for $2.50 off.  Awesome!  I paid $2.47 each!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick
510 Berry Rich (Crème)

This color is pretty!  It is not such a "berry" shade for me but I do like it a lot.  It appears more of a mauve shade to me on the lips and looks redder in the tube.  This is an A!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick
305 Highbeam Tan (Pearl)

First off, I shouldn't have picked this one up.  I didn't notice it was a Pearl finish.  I don't really like Pearl finishes.  They are too "frosty" and remind me of the 1980s.  Haha.  I wanted a neutral hue and I guess this one is except for the finish.  It should have been a crème.  Just because I don't like the finish, I'll give this one a B.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick
630 Raisin Rage (Crème)

I tried to get a little bit of everything.  I got some pinks, neutrals and deep shades to try them all out since it was my first time using Revlon lipsticks in over 15 years.

This one is so dark in the tube.  It swatches deeply too so I applied it with a light hand and I loved it.  At full strength it might have been too dark for my taste but slightly applied it is wonderful.  I give this a B.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick
130 Rose Velvet (Crème)

And I just had to save the best for last.  I am obsessed with this color.  I use it daily.  It's perfect for me!  It's a wonderful everyday shade.  Period.  And in case you need a grade, it's an A!

So, am I a new Revlon recruit?  Yes, I think I am!

The lipsticks, all of them, are wonderfully creamy and smooth and apply effortlessly.  There is no tugging or pulling on the lips.  No smell.  No taste.  I'm so happy!
