FINAL THOUGHTS: AVON NAILWEAR PRO NAIL ENAMEL IN BLUE SPLENDOR

On January 4, 2011, I polished my nails in a beautiful navy blue and glittery nail polish. I loved the color so I was already sold from the beginning. I just wanted to see how long it would wear. No base, no top coat, straight out of the bottle.

While one coat was sufficient, I applied two coats thinking it would give it extra days of life. The claims on this nail polish is that it can last you up to 10 days with regular touch ups. Just so you know, I rarely touch up my nails. As soon as it starts to chip away, I remove the nail polish and change the color or just go bare. I usually go bare. I don't like to spend a lot of time polishing my nails because no matter what, my polish always chips fast. I am a stay at home mom and I do a lot of cleaning, cooking, scrubbing, bathing the kids, changing diapers, cleaning up pets... I definitely have "mom hands"...so dry and brittle nails, really bad cuticles! Ahh! I need to take better care of them. My hands work so hard yet they are so neglected.

Any how, I got this nail polish from Avon for the sale price of $3.99. Regular price is $5.00. I am not sure if this shade is still available. I bought this back in the beginning of December.

So, here are the final results...

Avon Nailwear Pro Nail Enamel
Blue Splendor

Day 1

Day 3

Day 5

Day 7
So as you can see, by day 3, my nails started to chip. Good news is, a slight touch up would have taken care of that. Wasn't a big deal. My right hand was still perfect.

By day 5, there was a lot of missing nail polish! But there was an emergency at my sister's house. It dealt with a lot of leaking water, mopping, and wringing out sopping wet towels! No fun!! I know that's what caused the nail polish to chip away even more than normal. But, nevertheless, I know I would have had quite a bit of chipping by day 5.

And, finally, on day 7 I removed all the nail polish. I hate having my polish chipped so I didn't want to walk around with uglier than normal hands. The removal of this particular nail polish was quite difficult. With all the sparkle, such a dark tint, it took a while and a lot of cotton balls. I expected it to be a bigger pain than nail polishes with a normal finish. The sparkles were stubborn. And sad to say, but it did stain my nails with a blue hue. I'm sure will last a couple of days...

My final thoughts on Blue Splendor is...I like it. I do. I loved the color. I loved the sparkles (the look of them, not the removal of them). The wear was OK. Like I said, I don't like to wear my nail polish for more than 3-4 days so the fact that it didn't last 10 days on me didn't bother me. But of course it didn't last 10 days. The claim said "with regular touch ups". I didn't touch up. And I'm sure a top coat would have helped too. But I'm thinking here, if kept on for the full 10 days, would your nails be tinted more?? Hmm. I wonder.

THE VERDICT: ♥♥

♥ Eh, it's OK.
♥♥ I like it, it's a good product.
♥♥♥ I like it a lot, definitely buy more.
(No ♥s means NO THANK YOU.)

The only reason I didn't give this ♥♥♥ is because the removal was difficult and it left my nails slightly tinted blue.

Have a PRETTYFUL day!

Luv & Luk,
--L.

  7. I also find the removal of avon nailpolishes pretty hard, but I think they last a long period compared to another nailpolishes I've tried. I also bought some Avon nailpolishes and made a review on my blog xx greetings!
