Hello, my Pretties!

This past week, I totally felt like a therapist.  Weird way to start off this blog post but it totally makes sense to me!

I have been told so many times in my life, too many to count, that I am a good listener.  I am.  I am the person that friends or family will come to just to vent.  Why?  Because I usually keep my mouth shut and ears open.  As a friend, that's part of my charm.

I had a handful of buddies come to me this week to vent.  I really don't mind, honestly.  I make time for all the people in my life.  If I am busy doing something, you can bet I will still answer the phone and stop what I am doing to hear you out.  I think having someone that you can talk to is a great asset in your life.

I am nonjudgmental.  I am open minded.  I don't lecture you.  I don't belittle you.  And I will support you.

But I will not give advice!  That's a strange thing for a friend not to do but I don't.  I never have.  I never will.  I will only tell you about my experiences if it pertains to your issues.  I will tell you how I felt, what I did but I will never tell you how you should feel or what you should do.  I can only listen to you and sometimes that is enough.  Sometimes, just listening to yourself talk about your problems out loud is enough for things to become more clear to you and therefore, you can make your own decisions.

I don't hand out advice because I don't care, it's not that.  I just don't want to be responsible for a life changing moment in your life.  Good or bad.  I'd rather have it be your doing.  That way you appreciate it more.

I am lucky to have wonderful friends in my life.  For me, there is no better BFFs than my sisters.  I adore my sisters and we are so close.  But friends are those you choose to be a part of your life.  That makes them all that more special.

Friends are to be protected and cherished.  Loved.  Supported.  Honored.  I don't have many friends but the ones I do have are so wonderful to me.

So, my point is, be a good friend.  Good friends, true friends are hard to find.  Be a genuine friend to someone, and they will return the favor.
