Hello, my Pretties!
I've been M.I.A. for the last few days...somewhat of a self imposed mini sabbatical, if you will. I was in dire need of a break. I won't go into details. Let's just say I needed a break from life in general.
But, when I take a break, I come back a little bit stronger. Today I have a Look For Inspiration for you. I think this may be one of my best looks yet!
I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this look! This morning while getting dressed and ready to visit my mother, I asked the sweet-tart, "Bright eyes or brown eyes?" Without hesitation, he answered, "Bright eyes."
Bright eyes it is!
As you can see from this photo, I used a shimmery champagne shadow on my brow bone as a high light. A light tan brown went into the crease just to help blend out the bright eye shadows.
On my lid, I first applied a bright and shimmery lemon yellow shadow to the inner third of the eye. Next, I applied a matte green shadow to the middle of the lid. And on the outer third of the eye, I applied a matte hot pink.
On the lower lash line, I added a touch of the lemon yellow to the inner most corner followed by a matte blue to most of the lower lash line. On the outer corner of the lash line, I applied a vivid purple shadow.
And while the rules of makeup say: bright eyes/neutral lips, neutral eyes/bright lips, I say, "to heck with the rules!" My #1 rule in makeup is there are NO rules in makeup!
I was a rebel and did bright eyes with a bright lip. A nice hot pink lip. Grrr, baby, grrr!
I finalized the look with a hint of a bright peach blush and simple black eyeliner to my upper lash line and waterline. A couple coats of heavy black mascara completed the look.
And just to make sure I didn't look at all like a clown, I paired my beautifully bright and bold look with a simple black top and my hair nice and tidy pinned back.
I got so many compliments on this eye look. Even my brother in law said, "Niiiice!"
I don't know about you but sometimes throwing caution to the wind and just doing something that makes me feel pretty makes all the difference to me. While my life hasn't been all wine and roses lately, today I felt like a Froot Loop in a bowl of Cheerios!! I was special.
Luv & Luk,

Love this look, looks so tropical!
ReplyDeleteYes, tropical! If I ever go to Hawaii, I'll wear this look for sure! LOL. Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment, you're the best :)
DeleteI love it!! It is so bright, fun and beautiful! I never follow makeup rules either. I think you can pretty much make anything work with you if you do it right. And you did this right girl! Makes me wish summer would hurry up and get here!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yeah, rules are for school! LOL. Makeup is for fun and expression :) This is definitely a summer look and that's probably breaking another rule! LOL. We are clearly still in winter. Haha. All I know is that I love bright eyes and it's weird but they do make me feel special :)
DeleteOh girl I love this!! So pretty & colorful <3
ReplyDeleteThank you! I bet you could totally rock this look!
DeleteWow, nice job, I going to try this on my daughter for her next dance, the bright colors will be perfect, with her costume, however I'm not too good at applying eyeshadow, but I'll give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteAw, how sweet! Yes, please try it on your daughter! If you do, I'd love to see it! And don't stress out about not being good at applying eyeshadow, I'm sure you will do great! Just have fun with it :)
DeleteSo gorgeous my dear friend! You really know how to ROCK a bright eye! LOVE it! Dang, you sure know how to make a "comeback"! :) Hope you had a nice mini break from life and hope all is well now! Miss ya and your pretty face!!! <3 Angie
ReplyDeleteOh, sweet, Angie. You always make me feel like I matter. So many Twitter friends I have had and lost and you always make me feel worth something. You have a way about you. LOL. I did enjoy my little time off. Still debating whether or not to give it up completely but for now, I'm staying! LOL. I have missed you too and hope to be able to chat with you soon. And thank you for the sweet comments. You're so great! <3

DeleteBrave color experiment turns out rocker chic! Nice job. :D
ReplyDeleteLOL! "Brave color experiment!" Haha, how cool! Thank you so much. I must admit, I did feel like a bad-ass wearing this look. For some reason, I was rocking out to P!nk in my head all day long. LOL :)
DeleteVery pretty look! :) I love the colors! x
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love these eye shadows. I got them for my birthday in December and have just started playing around with them. This look was done using only eyeshadows from my BH Cosmetics 120 Eyeshadow Palette in the 2nd Edition. Love them!
DeleteLove this, its so bright and fun :) You did a great job and it all blends so well. I love your #1 rule in makeup too! I love pairing brights and brights. Go big or go home ;)
ReplyDeleteOMG, yes! Go big or go home! Love that! I think my blending looked better in this look than in my others past because I actually got a blending brush. Nothing fancy, just the $1 from ELF. I can say it's quickly becoming one of my favorite brushes :)
DeleteI love this! What is the yellow shadow?
ReplyDeleteHi, hon! All the shadows are out of the BH Cosmetics 120 eyeshadow Palette 2nd Edition. They don't have names. Do you own any of the BH Palettes? I love them :)
DeleteSo bright and fun! That's the best way to get over the end-of-winter blahs!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Can you tell I'm ready for sping?
Deletehahaaa ur too cute.. glad ur back n things are well.. always hold ur head up i love this bright look girl great job i dare u to do a smokey eye plzzzzz hehehehee
ReplyDeleteI have to remember to keep my head up! LOL. Sometimes I feel like I'm so overwhelmed that I'm drowning. Haha. Why did we want to be grownups when we were kids? What were we thinking! LOL. Thank you for the sweet words. And a smoky eye?? Uhhhh.... LOL. I suck at those! But I'll try!
