Bookworm Blogger: Mrs. Leakey Is Freaky!

Hello, my Pretties!

How's this for a change of pace?  I have a book review...on a children's book!  That's right.  You can add this to the "book" file in this blog.  I'm thinking of doing more of these since I am an avid reader, always have been, always will be.

Just a quick little background info:

My eldest daughter, Madison, is in third grade.  Our school district participates in what we call the Accelerated Reader program.  All the students in elementary participate.

What is the Accelerated Reader program?
It is a program that was put in place to motivate children to read more.  They check out books from their library and each book is ranked according to Reading Level and is allotted a certain number of Points based on Reading Level and difficulty. Once the child has read the book, they take a test on the computer that was created for that specific book.  If the child passes the test, they obtain the Points.  The Points then begin to accumulate and that's when the awards come into play.  For the children that read X amount of books in the current six weeks grading period, they are allowed to attend a "celebration" where they get treats and get to play games as a reward.  At the end of the school year, trophies are given to the one boy and one girl who read more and accumulated more Points than all the others.

So, I took it upon myself to start reading the books that my daughter checked out from the library.  This way I can question her about the book and I will be able to tell if she did in fact read the book and if she understood what she read.  This is me trying to become a better, more involved parent.

And today she checked out this book.

Ms. Leakey Is Freaky! by Dan Gutman, pictures by Jim Paillot.  Published 2011.
This appears to be #12 in the My Weird School Daze series.  It contains 11 chapters and a total of 102 pages.

My daughter just got this book today and is on Chapter 5.  I read the entire book in about 40 minutes.

My Review:

This was the first book I read in this series and I loved it.  It is so witty!  I found myself smiling throughout the entire book and even laughed out loud too.

The story is told through the voice of A.J. who is a student at Ella Mentry School.  (Haha.)  I don't believe his age or grade is mentioned.

A.J. is a boy with funny commentary that keeps the reader entertained which is very important in a children's book, I think.

The overall concept of the book is to teach children how to be healthy.

The school hires a new health teacher by the name of Ms. Leakey.  She is identified as a "health nut".  She tries to teach the children to say no to unhealthy foods, sugars, fats and yes to fruits and vegetables in such extreme ways such as sticking her hands into A.J.'s mouth to try and pull out a bite of Twinkie.  Extreme?   Sure.  Funny?  Yes.

Ms. Leakey singles out A.J. because she feels he is a leader at the school.  And if she can get him to start eating healthy,  the other children are soon to follow.  And because of this, she keeps such a close eye on A.J. to make sure he isn't making unhealthy food choices, that she appears to be everywhere.  Including at the bottom of a candy bin in the grocery store and under A.J.'s bed.

The author gives out great ideas on how to be healthier all the while being funny and entertaining for the children.  But there are moments when it gets a little too scientific for young kids.  Like when he states the ingredients in a Twinkie.

"Dextrose!   Sodium acid pyrophosphate!  Diglycerides!  Polysorbate 60!  Partially hydrogenated animal shortening!  You want to put those chemicals into your body?"

When my daughter was reading that, she couldn't pronounce the words.  Heck, neither could I!  Haha.
And the story has a good lesson for us all.  Eating healthy and being healthy is best but treats are OK too in moderation.

I enjoyed reading this little story and I hope that you enjoyed my review.  Something different, I know, but different can be good too.

I recommend this book for those of you who have children in "Ella Mentry School".  Haha.

Luv & Luk,
--L.

Review: L.A. Colors

Hello, my Pretties!

As promised, here is another L.A. Colors review I have to share with you!  I am so excited to have been given yet again another opportunity to try some new products!

And as always, let me clarify that these products were sent to me courtesy of L.A. Colors in exchange for an honest review on my blog.

Now let the fun begin!

This time I got sent three new products but I was able to pick out my own colors so that was an added bonus.  In this review, I will be covering two lip products and one nail product.  I think you will enjoy these just as much as I did.

Pictured above:

L.A. Colors Flash Pop! Dual Ended Nail Polish in Mad Duo.
L.A. Colors Jellie Gloss in Bloom.
L.A. Colors Lip Color in Pouty.

L.A. Colors Flash Pop! Dual Ended Nail Polish
CNP983 Mad Duo
0.30 fl. oz. (9ml)

There are 6 different nail polish duos to choose from but when I saw this color on the L.A. Colors website, I just knew I had to have it.  I am adoring coral colors lately.  But, I will admit that the hue on the website differs greatly from the actual nail polish.  In person it is a lot more vibrant!  It's a bright sunny orange.  Almost neon...cool.

The L.A. Color website states:

TWO DIFFERENT COLORS
MULTI-DIMENSIONAL
WEAR ALONE OR COMBINED

Trend Alert! L.A. COLORS Flash POP! has everything you need to make your nails show stopping. Designed with two different colors in one convenient tube, Flash POP! duos makes your nails appear multi-dimensional with the flip of a stick. Each nail set has a bold nail polish color on the end and a glittery top coat on the other; wear alone or combined to deliver a dazzling look with intense color.

http://lacolors.com/Flash-POP!-Polish-2948.html

The orange coral side is pretty great.  It appears a little on the thin side but two coats is sufficient to get optimum coverage.  And like I said, it is not a muted coral, it is a vibrant orange.  It will look fantastic with a tan (which I naturally sport year round haha) this summer.

The accent side to the nail polish duo consists of hot pink micro glitter and holographic roughly chopped shapes.  The micro glitters stick on to the nail very well but the larger chunks are hard to get on to the nail in the first place.

And here is my final look!  I did two coats of the opaque cream coral polish and two coats of the pink glitter.  Over all, I love this duo!

MY GRADE: A

Now, next on my list to chat about is the L.A. Colors Jellie Gloss.

L.A. Colors Jellie Gloss
CLG976 Bloom
0.20 oz. (5.6g)

OK, it was a little bit harder to choose which of these lip glosses to pick.  There are 24 awesome shades to choose from!  I knew I wanted to try something out of my comfort zone.

The L.A. Colors website states:

NATURAL SHINE
LIGHT SWEET SCENT
SILKY SMOOTH APPLICATION

Jellie, Shimmer, and Sparkle lip gloss leaves lips with a soft natural shine. Sticky free formula with a light sweet scent glistens lips with a burst of color. Discover your favorite shade for every mood!

Bloom swatch.

Bloom lip swatch.

And something out of my comfort zone was what I got!  This is definitely not a color I would have ever picked had I seen it in person.  On the website it appears more red, though.  I'm new to this shade of pink but I actually found it fun to wear!  It's such a Barbie girl color!  Haha.

The website claims that it has a "light sweet scent" and it took me forever and a day to put my finger on it.  The scent was so familiar and it was killing me that I couldn't name what it smelled like.  But I think I've got it.  It smells like bubble gum!  Duh!

As for the feel of it, I like it.  It is moisturizing.  It's creamy and no, it is not sticky at all.  There is no flavor to this lip gloss either.  It wore for about 2 hours before I had to reapply.  I think that is typical for a lip gloss.

Over all, I liked this one too.  And since there are so many other colors to try, I plan on making a purchase for a few others.  I'd love to try: Splash, Venom, Seduce and Sparkling!

MY GRADE: A

And last but not least, here is the L.A. Colors Lip Color.

L.A. Colors Lip Color
LIPC2 Pouty
0.13 oz. (3.6g)

48!  48!  That's how many of these pretty little things there are to chose from!  That's pretty great.  I took forever to chose one lipstick I wanted to try.  I picked this one because I was looking for something a little more neutral since I thought the Jellie Gloss was going to be more red.  I will say that for me, Pouty in person was very close to the Pouty swatch on the website.

The L.A. Colors website states:

HYDRATING COLOR
ENRICHED WITH VITAMIN E
VIBRANT COLORS

Introducing a new line of hydrating color lipsticks that nourish and moisturize lips while giving them the vibrant color. Enriched with Vitamin E, it goes on with ease and leaves lips feeling soft and supple.

Pouty swatch.

Pouty lip swatch.

Right off the bat, I loved the color.  On my wrist, it was the perfect color but on my actual lips, I liked it a tad less.  Despite the color, it's a fantastic lipstick!

Like the lip gloss, the lipstick also has a sweet scent but not bubble gum like.  More like sugar.  The lipstick does not have a flavor either.  It feels decadent on the lips.  Very creamy!  Very moisturizing too.  It is not sticky at all and it wear comfortably.

I can not think of a negative side to this lipstick.  I enjoyed it very much.  While the color wasn't perfect for me, there are 47 other colors I can try!

MY GRADE: A

I think all three of these products are going to be perfect and wonderfully worn for spring and summer.  I am happy with all of these and did enjoy them very much.  I am looking forward to purchasing other shades of all three items!

Are you thinking about picking up any of these L.A. Colors newest products?

Review: BA Star Pro Makeup

Hello, my pretties!

Thanks to BrandBacker and their Team, I was accepted into the program to review an eyeshadow palette by BA Star Pro Makeup.  So, just letting you all know first and foremost, I RECEIVED THIS EYESHADOW PALTTE BY BA STAR PRO MAKEUP FREE OF CHARGE IN RETURN FOR AN HONEST PRODUCT REVIEW.

I am new to BrandBacker and for those of you who have never heard of it, it is a service that sends you emails filled with companies who need reviews done on their products and you apply for the ones who interest you.  You might get chosen and you might not.  They decided if your blog is suitable to review their content.

At the time I joined BrandBacker, BA Star Pro Makeup was the only one that had anything to do with my blog.  I applied to review their eyeshadow palette and I got chosen!  The rest is history and so now let's move on to the good stuff.

I had never before heard of BA Star Pro Makeup before BrandBacker.  That is why I love reviewing for companies I have never used before.  You might never know what you've been missing out otherwise.

BA Star specializes in makeup and accessories for "cheerleaders, dancers, competitors, and trend setters" according to their website which you can check out at BASTAR.com.

This is the eyeshadow palette that BA Star sent me.  At first glance, I immediately thought that this palette very closely resembled the NYX Glitter Cream Palette!  The difference is that the NYX palette contains 5 glitters and BA's contains 3 shadows and 2 glitters.  There are four of these palettes to choose from.  I received the Natural Shadow Palette but there is also a Smoky Shadow Palette, Pretty N Pink Shadow Palette and a True Blue Shadow Palette which you can see here: http://www.bastar.com/category_s/1887.htm These palettes sell for $8.75.

Here is a close up of the three eyeshadow shades.  These are pure love.  I adore these colors.  I am so happy that this is the palette I received.  I knew that I would get more use out of this one.  These are great everyday colors.  They are also work appropriate.

And now on to some swatches:

The texture of these shadows is smooth and almost creamy.  They remind me of my Prestige eyeshadows which are very cheap but work so well.  All three shadows blend out very nicely and are greatly pigmented.  The trio coordinate very well together.  As for staying power, I applied my Avon Eyeshadow Primer before and once these shadows were applied, they stayed on.  Did I forget to mention how shimmery these shadows are!?  If you don't like shimmery shadows then these are not for you!

Included in the eyeshadow palette were also two gel glitter bases to use on the eyes as a high light or to add over eyeliner or just to add a little something special.

And now on to the swatches:

The packaging may be reminiscent of the NYX Glitter Cream Palettes but these glitter gels are much more creamier.  The NYX Glitter Cream Palette I own (GCP07 Royal Violets) is much, much drier.  The NYX glitters are more coarse.  The BA glitter gels are creamy--oily??--to the touch and apply fairly easy.  At times it was hard to apply the glitter without removing too much of it while trying to blend it out.  The glitter adheres better if you pat it on.

While I am a fan of the shadows and the glitter gels weren't that bad, the brush on the other hand was not good at all.  It is stiff and the bristles are not soft at all.  It has a very plastic-y feel to it and feels rough while brushing the shadows on your delicate eyelid skin.  I ended up using my own E.L.F. brushes to apply these BA Star eyeshadows.

The sponge tipped applicator was not as bad as the brush.  It worked much better and the quality was good.  It is soft and feels durable.

As a little something extra, I cooked up a little pictorial for you to show you how I used these lovely shadows.

And just so you know, I used the pearlescent glitter gel on my lips.  Now, these glitter gels were made for use on the eyes.  No where on the palette packaging does it say that you can wear the glitter gels on your lips.  I did this on my own.

But...I wouldn't recommend it.  The glitters feel gritty on the lips.  The gel itself feels "greasy" for lack of a better word.  So I say, just leave the glitter gels to the eyes.

I also wanted to mention that in Step 5, I added the gold glitter gel to my lower lash line and in person, it sparkled so beautifully.  It was impossible to get the shine to show up with my camera which left me very disappointed.  I wanted to desperately share with you how wonderful it looked.

And the same thing happened when I tried to photograph the pearlescent glitter gel that I used on a different day while wearing purple shadow.  The colors reflected off the pearlescent glitter is exquisite.  There are pinks and purples and blues.  Truly beautiful but it did not transfer well in photos.

As far as I can say, the BA Star Pro Makeup Natural Shadow Palette is a pretty good palette.  The eyeshadows blended well, wore well, and were nicely pigmented despite their only downfall which is their scent.  To me they smell like "cheap" makeup.  But once you are wearing them, the scent is undetectable.

I can see myself using these shadows often but maybe not the glitter gels so much.  They are pretty, that's for sure, but one thing I totally forgot about is that I wear contact lenses so glitters around the eye area is not such a good thing.  It's not really safe.  For those of us who were contacts, we know that any little grit of dirt or glitter can be excruciating.  It might also tear your contact lenses.

But I will say that I didn't have any problems while wearing the glitter gels.  They stayed in place and therefore my eyes were safe!  Once the glitter gel dried, the glitters did not budge.  As a matter of fact, when I removed my makeup at the end of the night, the shadows removed easily but the glitters were more stubborn.

And there you have it.  Is this your first time hearing about BA Star Pro Makeup too?  Are you going to try it?  Here's a little incentive... Get a 50% discount when you enter BBSmoky at BASTAR.com

Review: L.A. Colors

Hello, my Pretties!

Back in March, L.A. Colors was kind enough to send me a sweet little package for review.  I was deeply excited.  For those of you who follow my blog, you know me to be a fan of L.A. Colors.  I use their eyeshadows and lipsticks often in my posts.

Now before we get started, let me just state that THE ITEMS MENTIONED IN THIS POST WERE SENT TO ME FREE OF CHARGE BY L.A. COLORS AND/OR THEIR PR REPRESENTATIVES IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW ON MY BLOG.  Like I said, I will be providing you with my honest opinion in this post, just like all my others.

Also, for the first time I'll be "grading" these products.  I'll keep it simple for my sake as well as yours.  The product will either get a grade of A, B, or C.

A is for awesome, amazing!
B is for buy it, try it, you might like it.
C is for "C" ya, wouldn't wanna be ya!

Haha!

With that being said, let's get on with the fun stuff, shall we?!

I just wanted to say thanks for making the
packaging really cute and personalized!

I received 7 awesome goodies courtesy of L.A. Colors.

Let me just quickly list all items received.

1. L.A. Colors Glossin Go! On-the-Go Pocket Lipgloss in CLG956 Kisses
2. L.A. Colors Color Craze Nail Polish in NP541 Candysprinkles
3. L.A. Colors Color Craze Nail Polish in NP521 Illusion
4. L.A. Colors Eyeshadow Pot in CES159 Vibrant Viola
5. L.A. Colors Grafix Eyeliner in CLE731 Black
6. L.A. Colors Jumbo Eye Pencil in CP411 Bikini Time
7. L.A. Colors 3 Color Eyeshadow Palette in CES445 Sunflower

As you can see, my Vibrant Viola arrived broken...

...as did my Bikini Time.

The good news is that I contacted Vanessa Trinh, who gave me the opportunity in the first place to review these products and she was able to replace these damaged goods.  Thank you, Vanessa, for such speedy assistance!

See?  Here are Vibrant Viola and Bikini Time in their untouched glory.
L.A. Colors Jumbo Eye Pencil in CP411 Bikini Time.
L.A. Colors Eyeshadow Pot in CES159 Vibrant Viola.

Swatches of Bikini Time.
Top: Straight from the tube.
Bottom: Blended out with fingers.

I swatched Bikini Time on my forearm without any primer, foundation, or base.  Straight out of the tube, the purple hue is very vibrant, almost duochromatic.  Once you blend it out, since you have to when you apply it to your lids or else you run the risk of creasing, it looses it's punch but it still looks duochrom-y.  It is very creamy for being a pencil type product.  It blended out easily but then it was hard to keep the color on my lids.  With blending came the fading.  The worst part was that after a few minutes, the creasing began.  Even after I had applied it over my favorite go to eyelid primer.  I don't recommend using this on it's own but it did work well as a base for Vibrant Viola and would work well with any purple in your collection.

L.A. Colors Jumbo Eye Pencil in CP411 Bikini Time:
MY GRADE: C
0.13 oz./3.8 g
Website claims:
♥ Vibrant colors
♥ Soft, silky application
♥ Innovating shades
http://lacolors.com/Jumbo-Pencil-&-Sharpener-2682.html

Swatch of Vibrant Viola.

I swatched Vibrant Viola on my forearm without any primer, foundation, or base.  The texture of this eyeshadow single is very soft and blends out easily.  As for pigmentation, it isn't WOW but it's still a pretty purple.  Slightly more on the sheer side for my taste.  Just and FYI, if you blend too much, you lose a lot of the color.  You need to pack it on first, then blend it out slightly.  Worked well over Bikini Time as a base.

L.A. Colors Eyeshadow Pot in CES159 Vibrant Viola:
MY GRADE: B
6.5 g/0.23 oz.
Website claims:
♥ Vibrant colors
♥ Soft, silky application
♥ Innovating shades
http://lacolors.com/Eyeshadow-Pot-2755.html

L.A. Colors 3 Color Eyeshadow Palette in CES445 Sunflower.

Swatches of Sunflower.

I swatched Sunflower on my forearm without any primer, foundation, or base.  The colors in the pan are beautiful!  They remind me of fall, though.  Once swatched, they appear more as a wash of color rather than a highly pigmented shadow.  There is a nice sheen to all three shades.  I love how the trios are coordinated.  The colors are perfect together!  But as you use these shadows, the metallic sheen seems to be just on the top layer of the shadows.

L.A. Colors 3 Color Eyeshadow Palette in CES445 Sunflower:
MY GRADE: B
0.19 oz./5.5 g
Website claims:
♥ Brush applicator
♥ Long lasting
♥ Vivid colors
http://lacolors.com/3-Color-Eyeshadow-2663.html

L.A. Colors Grafix Eyeliner in CLE731 Black.

Swatches of Grafix Eyeliner.

I am so in love with this eyeliner.  It is so BLACK!  It's wonderfully pigmented.  I love the applicator.  It is a foam tip but it is long and flexible with enough pressure.  In the swatches above, I demonstrated what a light hand can do, a thin line, and what a little bit more pressure can do, a thicker line.  Lately I have been all about a thin eyeliner line and this will be a great addition to my daily makeup routine!  In the swatch photo above, there appears to be some "bleeding" of the eyeliner but I did not have that problem when applied to my eyes.  It wore like a dream.

L.A. Colors Grafix Eyeliner in CLE731 Black:
MY GRADE: A
3.5 ml/0.12 fl. oz.
Website claims:
♥ Smudge/tear proof
♥ Water resistant
♥ Foam tipped applicator
http://lacolors.com/Grafix-Liquid-Liner-2779.html

Just for fun, I decided I'd to a pictorial showcasing Bikini Time, Vibrant Viola and all three shadows in Sunflower along with the Grafix Eyeliner.

Purple and brown/gold is one of my favorite eyeshadow combos.

L.A. Colors Glossin Go in CLG956 Kisses.

Swatch of Kisses.

This lip gloss is pretty cute.  The packaging is perfect for your pockets, especially the back pockets in your jeans!  It has a slim and tapered design that doesn't add bulk to your behind.  Haha.  As for the color, I could tell that it would be very sheer by the way it appeared in the tube.  It's a clear pink base overflowing with what looks like pink, clear, and purple glitters and shimmers.  The glitters transfer to your lips.  You can see it in the swatch photo above.  It feels very smooth on the lips and is not sticky at all.  It contains Vitamin E which is great and it is non sticky which is even better!  I did smell the faint aroma of vanilla but there is no taste what-so-ever.  I don't like when my glosses have flavors.  Haha.

L.A. Colors Glossin Go On-the-Go Pocket Lipgloss in CLG956 Kisses:
MY GRADE: B
0.19 fl. oz./5.5 ml
Website claims:
♥ Silky smooth application
♥ Super shiny
♥ Light vanilla scent
http://lacolors.com/Glossin-Go-2732.html

Not only did I get goodies for my face but I got some for my nails too!

L.A. Colors Color Craze Nail Polish
in NP521 Illusion.

Swatch of Illusion.
Two coats.

Uh, can I say, OMG?!  I love this color.  Love it!  I am a fan of purple.  This is beyond pretty.  I'm so, so pleased to have received this polish.  It's amazing.  The color is like a lavender but more vibrant, not pastel.  This is going to by a definite go to shade for spring for sure!  The formula is easy to apply, not too thick or too thin.  Perfection, really.

L.A. Colors Color Craze Nail Polish in NP521 Illusion:
MY GRADE: A
0.44 fl. oz./13 ml
Website claims:
♥ Long lasting
♥ Quick drying
♥ Chip resistant

L.A. Colors Color Craze Nail Polish
in NP541 Candysprinkles.

Swatch of Candysprinkles.
Two coats.

Here is another amazing nail polish.  I love this one.  I love the name.  It reminds me of a cupcake with sprinkles on it.  I had to fight the urge to lick my nails.  Haha.  Good thing this isn't one of those scented nail polishes.  Imagine if it smelled like vanilla!  Haha.  This one was a bit sheer with one coat but with the second one it is much better.  The rainbow of red, yellow, green and blue glitters really pop against a bubble gum pink background.

Oh and just so you know, there are 72 of these Color Craze Nail Polish shades to choose from!

L.A. Colors Color Craze Nail Polish in NP541 Candysprinkles:
MY GRADE: A
0.44 fl. oz./13 ml
Website claims:
♥ Long lasting
♥ Quick drying
♥ Chip resistant

And that's all she wrote!

Don't forget to check out all these products and more at www.lacolors.com.

Let me extend a THANK YOU to Vanessa Trinh and L.A. Colors for allowing me this opportunity!

Review: MyWholesaleFashion.com

Hello, my Pretties!

Back on November 9, 2012, I received an email asking if I would like to review some products for a company.  I had never heard of this company before so I clicked on the link to their website.  The company was MyWholesaleFashion.com.  They specialize in nail polish and fashion jewelry.  My blog is more of a beauty blog and not so much of a fashion blog so I opted to try the nail polishes. If all goes well, I won't shut the door on trying out their line of fashion jewelry.

**On a side note, I noticed that cosmetics have been added to the site!  Eeeep!**

Well...

At first, this was all smooth sailing.  I got the invitation email on November. 9th.  I accepted the terms that same day so they told me to choose 12 nail polishes from their website to review. TWELVE! I was in awe!  I expected to be given maybe two nail polishes to review.  I thought 12 was awfully generous.  On November 13th, I sent in my 12 picks.  It was so hard to choose only 12 since they offer a wide array of nail polishes on their site.  Granted, they only offer three brands:  Kleancolor, Nabi, and Santee, but the color choices are abundant.  And later that day, my package was shipped out.  Talk about fast service!

Six days later, on November 19th, my promo package arrived.  I was walking up to my front door when I saw the package sitting on my step.  As I got closer, the smell of nail polish was present.  Oh no!  I quickly checked and yes, my polishes were damaged.  A couple were broken.  I was so disappointed.

I quickly emailed the company and offered to send them photos of the damages and they agreed that would be best.

Upon opening box.

After taking off the protective plastic.

This sheet of plastic is not sufficient protection for glass bottles.

Two bottles stuck together with spilled nail polish.

One bottle complete shattered.

Messiness.

So, as you can see by the photos, I had a mess on my hands.  Even though these were sent to me FREE for review purposes, the fact of the matter is that they were for review so this looks bad on the company.  I have always promised to report the good, the bad, and the ugly.  No matter what.

I sent MyWholesaleFashion.com the photos of the damaged polishes on November 19th.  Between the 19th and the 30th, I sent several emails asking if they had received the photos in the first place since I had not received any sort of acknowledgement.  No response.  I sent the photos again.  No response.  I was becoming very uneasy about the whole thing.  I was more disappointed than anything.  If MyWholesaleFashion.com did not respond, I was going to do the review anyway.  It was only fair.

But they did respond finally on November 30th, I suppose after the Thanksgiving holidays.  They informed me that authorization had be granted to send me out another promo package.  Yay!  I would have been satisfied just receiving a replacement for the nail polishes that were broken or fused together.  The others could have been cleaned but that would have been an exhausting and tedious task.  They were coated in glitter and we all know how hard glitter is to remove!

On December 5th, my new package was sent out.

On December 11th, my new package arrived!

I was thrilled with the packaging!  Such an improvement!!  All nail polishes were securely wrapped up in tape and bubble wrap.  Now that's more like it.  I quickly emailed MyWholesaleFashion.com and let them know that my package had arrive and was in pristine condition.

It was a terrible mishap that the first package was damaged.  It was unfortunate that it was very hard to get a hold of them when I was trying to get the situation under control.  But MyWholesaleFashion.com totally redeemed themselves by sending me a brand new promo package in its entirety and completely changed their packaging to ensure that I would not be disappointed again.  Bravo, MyWholesaleFashion.com!  And thank you!

So, now that the bad and the ugly have been discussed, let's get to the good.  Nail polish swatches anyone??

Kleancolor Nail Lacquer
0.5 fl. oz.
$3.00 for a 1/2 dozen pack (same shade)

I am a huge fan of Kleancolor.  I have several of my own Kleancolor Nail Lacquers that I have purchased on my own.  I thought this was a great opportunity to add to my collection.

Kleancolor 134 Holo Pink

I loved Holo Pink!  Such a pretty pink shade that looks like sugar.

Kleancolor 176 Diamond Red

While I'm not a huge fan of glitter nail polishes because they are a pain in the apples to remove, I noticed that I chose a lot of glitters!  I can't help it, they are so pretty!

Diamond Red is another pretty glitter.  It is quite sheer with one coat but a second coat fixes that right up.  My nails look like Dorothy's ruby slippers.

Kleancolor 200 Shooting Star

And what is this?  Another glitter??  Haha.  But look at this one.  It's so cute.  Red, blue, and gold glitters make this polish adorable and a great top coat over another solid nail polish.  I thought about using this over a green nail polish for Christmas since the colors remind me of Christmas lights.

Kleancolor 226 Story of My Heart

And there was no way I could resist this nail polish on name alone.  Story of My Heart.  It's lovely.  And so is the color.  It's a very pale pink with iridescent shimmers.  It is sweet, feminine, and so delicate looking.

Nabi Nail Lacquer
0.53 fl. oz.
$3.00 for a 1/2 dozen pack (same shade)

Off the three nail polish brands MyWholesaleFashion.com offers, I have only tried Kleancolor.  I've heard of Nabi but this was a new one for me.  Here are the shades I chose.

Nabi 17 Sand

Sand is a perfect nude shade.  I have really been into nudes lately.  Especially on nails.  I love how this nude is not too pink or too brown.  It's a nice creme finish which is my favorite.

Nabi 94 Ace

Ace is a fun hot pink creme.  It's pretty opaque with one coat which is awesome but two coats really makes it say BAM!  It's such a girly fun color.

Nabi 100 Cinnamon

Of all the nail polishes I picked, this one is the only one with a chrome like finish.  These finishes tend to be difficult.  They are usually streaky.  As you can see from the photo, this one is no different.  Streaky yes, horrible no.  It's a really pretty mauve like shade and applies perfectly opaque in ONE coat.

Nabi 101 Brownsville

I'll admit that I only picked this nail polish because of the name.  Brownsville is a city about an hour from where I live here in Texas.  It is where we have our local zoo and therefore, somewhere we visit often as a family.  Haha. But the color is nice.  It's a mulberry pink creme.  Nothing brown about "brown"sville.

Santee Nail Polish
0.53 fl. oz.
$3.00 for a 1/2 dozen pack (same shade)

Santee is also another nail polish brand that I have heard of but have never tried.  I'm so happy I got these.  I should have gotten more!

Santee 19 Cute Me

Cute Me got hand picked by me because the name was too cute not to.  Haha.  This is another multicolored glitter in a clear base like Kleancolor's Shooting Star.  Another great top coat over an opaque polish.

Santee 28 Ocean Fantasy

Oh my wow, I so adore this color!  This might be my most favorite color I picked.  I love turquoise shades.  This is a slightly shimmery shade.  It's gorgeous.  Perfect shade for summer!  One coat was almost totally opaque and that's good.

Santee 40 Frosty Grey

When I saw this nail polish in person, I was struck with a case of the blahs.  It was just OK.  Nothing exciting.  Besides, I thought I had one very similar to it.  When I applied the first coat, I was even less enchanted.  So sheer.  But after the second coat, I was won over!  The color is awesome!  It's grey but with a lot of purple in it.  It's a creme finish too.  Winning!

Santee 59 My First Kiss

And I might have saved the best for last.  I adore pink.  I adore hot pink.  I adore this Hi-Liter shade of hot pink.  It's fabulous!  One coat of this one was pretty opaque too.  I love that!  Yup.  This one is my favorite.

Over all, my experience with My Wholesale Fashion was very good.  Despite the hiccups we had in the beginning, I am delighted that they were willing to work with me and righted the wrong.  It took longer than I had anticipated but it's understandable.
