Avon: Total Glamour Holiday Collection

Hello, my Pretties!

Finally, I have this wonderful little gift set from Avon to share with you.  I got his a few weeks ago and posted a picture of it on Instagram and many of you wanted to see a blog post on it.  So, it took me forever and a day to do it but here it is.

Avon Total Glamour Holiday Collection

Boxed and ready to give, this entire limited edition 4-piece collection gift set is valued at $35.00 but was being sold for $19.99.  So I grabbed it...for myself.

Avon says:
"This kit includes the following shades: sequins and shine eyeshadow quad, glimmering bronze lip gloss and sequined turquoise nail enamel.  Get your holiday glam on with gorgeous shades for eyes, lips and nails.  The stylish evening clutch completes the look."

Iridescent Holiday Clutch
Polyester; 11" L x 5" H x 2" D
$20 value.

Ah!  Such a cute little bag.  All of the items fit neatly into it with room for more!

Up close photo of the outside.

Look at the rainbow of colors that shine in the light!

Turquoise inner lining.

Turquoise, my favorite color.  Beautiful on the inside as well as on the outside.

Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad
Holiday Edition

Lately, I have not been a huge fan of Avon's eyeshadow quads but I saw this one in the brochure and I just had to have it.

Quad compact.

Love the new look to their quads.  I like the detail of the chrome like swirls on it.  Much better than the solid black they used to be.

.20 oz. total net wt.

I melted when I opened this up.  So gorgeous!

Sequins and Shine

So glad I got it!  I love it!

Swatches with flash without base or primer.

I used it...
Swatches without flash without base or primer.

I was pretty disappointed.  Not as great as I was hoping they were going to be but right along the lines of what I thought they were going to be like.  If that makes any sense.  Like I said, I haven't been their biggest eyeshadow quad fan but I was hoping this quad would change my mind.

The white is not even noticeable on my hand.  The white, silver, and brown were very smooth and soft.  The white was too soft though.  I'd flick my brush in the pan and eyeshadow dust went flying everywhere.  Not good for me.  The turquoise was my main reason for getting this set.  It was very gritty.  Kind of chunky.  You can see the difference in the texture.

Glazewear Lip Gloss in Glimmering Bronze
.15 oz. net wt.

I was not a fan of this when I pulled it out of the bag.  I love the Glazewear line though.

Swatch with flash.
Sheer bronze gloss with blue reflects.

Oh, but my mind was quickly changed when I swatched it.  So pretty.  It matches the brown shadow beautifully.  It is a bronze gloss with tiny little blue reflects.  Such a unique color!

Nailwear Pro Nail Enamel
.4 fl. oz.

This nail polish speaks for itself!

Sequined Turquoise

Turquoise with silver reflects.  Now this is a beauty.

One coat.

Two coats.

One coat was definitely too sheer.  Two coats was just right.

EOTD using Sequins and Shine.

Even with an eyeshadow primer and NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk, I was disappointed with the pigmentation.  I took a lot of packing on the eyeshadow to get this look.  I will say that it does look better in person.  I can't take decent photos.  I tend to wash it all out.  Too much flash, I suppose.

Gray on lid. Turquoise in crease. Brown outer V.
White as a brow highlight.

All in all, if I were to rate this, I would give this 3 out of 5 stars.  The shadows are lovely in the pan and I just wish they would translate their beauty onto the eye much better.

Glimmering Bronze.

Here is another failed photo of mine.  In natural light you can see the pretty blue reflects in the gloss.  They shy away due to the flash.

First Holiday Inspired EOTD.

And since this is a limited edition holiday collection, I decided to make this my first official holiday inspired look.  It could be festive with all the shimmer!

I hope you enjoyed this.  This was a spur of the moment kind of thing.  I had some free time tonight and decided to play with my new makeup.  I wasn't planning on using this look but I thought it looked nice.  Too bad it's night time and I can't takes pictures without the flash so that's why some photos just don't look so good.  I saw an opportunity for a blog post and I took it!

Until next time...

Luv & Luk,

  1. Very pretty! Too bad about the quality of the shadows though. That's always disappointing when you get a palette you like but it's not the best.

  3. @Jennifer Williams, yes, I'm so sad and disappointed. I love Avon but their shadows are not my favorite. But I will keep trying to get these to work for me. I won't give up on them! LOL.

@Jessica, I love Avon but honestly, I think they need to step up the game when it comes to their shadows. I think Wet n Wild shadows are better and much cheaper too. And yes, the nail polish is really nice. I liked it :)

@Hunter87, thanks! I'm happy with it all but I do wish the shadows were a bit better. Oh well. :)

  5. @Amber, thank you! I am in love with the nail polish. My fave color and with sparkle, yay! I really like the lip gloss too. I'm very picky with my lip colors. But hey, you're pale but you can wear colors that I couldn't pull off! :)
