1/11/11 L'OREAL HIP DUO SERIES: DUO #3 ROARING

Continuing with my L'Oreal HIP Duo Series is duo #3, Roaring. Roaring is a matte duo. This duo consists of a medium matte brown and a bright true blue. The blue shade is gorgeous but intimidating.

I was being careful not to blend these two colors too much together. The final look appears somewhat like a cut crease. I've never done a cut crease intentionally. This might be the closest I've ever come to it.

So, my Pretties, meet Roaring.

Semi cut crease look, right?

So, what do you think? I guess the flash washed out the look a bit. The blue was much bolder in person. I have such a hard time wearing blue but when I do dress my eyes up with it, I always pair it with brown. I need to neutralize it, tone it down. That's why I loved this duo at first sight. A really pretty, everyone-can-wear, brown and a bold, look-at-me, blue. The Yin and Yang of eyeshadow duos.

I applied the brown shade on my lid, of course. The blue shade went in my crease and along the lower lash line. The blue was difficult to blend out. I could not find the right intensity. I'd add it on. Too bold. Blend it out. Not bold enough. Add some more. Too bold. Blend it out...you get the point.

I chose not to wear eyeliner on my top lashes just because I felt like the blue was enough. I wanted that to be the focal point. I did line my waterline with navy blue eyeliner. But I did feel that the final look needed a high light so I used one by E.L.F. that I already had in my stash.

Lately, I have been into lighter shades of lips. I'm still on the quest for the perfect nude lip for me but for now, pale, like-my-natural-lip-color-but-better, shades are my go to everyday choice. This FOTD is the last day I will ever apply this tube of lipstick. While I was taking pics of my face, my one year old got a hold of my lippie tube and demolished it. Yup. Rubbed it all over my carpet. Yikes! So, that's why the photos show a totally destroyed lipstick.

MY FINAL THOUGHTS:
Do I like the colors? Yes. Were they effortless to apply? No. Fallout? No. Lasting power? Great! Fading? No. Creasing? No. Smooth? Very. Do I regret buy this? Never!

Again, my only complaint is the blue is a little harder to blend out. But I hear that's not unusual for matte shades. But who cares! I think it looks good!

THE VERDICT: ♥♥♥
♥ Eh, it's OK.
♥♥ I like it, it's a good product.
♥♥♥ I like it, definitely buy more.
(No ♥s means NO THANK YOU.)

  3. @Tsahi, is Showy the bright blue & turquoise duo? I'm not good at remembering the names! I need to work on that. But I'll look in my stash and I'll let you know. Because if the one I have is Showy, then I LOVE IT!
