Makeup Time Machine: 2010

Hello, my Pretties!

The other day that we were in Corpus on our mini "vacay", I was bored in the hotel room and was browsing through old photos on my netbook when I found a handful of old makeup pics.  These are dated 2010.

In late 2010, was when my obsession with YouTube makeup tutorials and reading beauty blogs started.  I had always been a fan of makeup but around this time, my addiction was kicked into high gear.  I started taking pics of my makeup around October of that year.  I had every intention of starting a blog on January 1, 2011.

And I did keep my New Year's Resolution for that year.  Starting a blog was the only resolution that I have ever kept in my life!

I thought it would be fun to take a trip down makeup memory lane in my time machine and visit my first attempts at blogging.  Don't laugh...well, not too hard!

Haha :)

Oh well, I wasn't the greatest but not too too bad, I suppose.  My taste in eyeshadows has become more bold.  I was using a lot of colors back then but now I use some really bright shadows sometimes.  I couldn't help but notice how much younger I looked 2 years ago.  Haha.  Oh well, I'm older but wiser.  I hope!

I hope that you enjoyed this post.  Nothing really to brag about but I think it's pretty cool to see where it all started and how my taste and techniques have improved.  I still have a long way to go but I've come a long way too.

Sugar Sweet Cosmetics: Fruity Delight Collection

Hello, my Pretties!

Last month I got a promoter spot with Sugar Sweet Cosmetics.  In case you missed my announcement, you can read that blog post HERE.

At the time I got the promoter spot, there were only 5 eyeshadows to choose from.  Or, you get all 5 shadows in a collection called Fruity Delights.  I went ahead and I purchased the entire collection.

There are only a few of these shadows available on the site.  They are being discontinued to make room for the new shades coming out soon!

So, I decided to go ahead and post the swatches of these 5 shadows anyway.  That way you can see the quality of the shadows and purchase the last remaining shadows or maybe this will get you excited about seeing the new colors appearing this August!

I placed my order on July 16th and it arrived on July 23rd.

Included in my package.
At SSC, our Eyeshadows can be used 7 ways.
The eye shadows can be used as:
♥Eyeshadow
♥Cream Shadow
♥Lipgloss
♥Mascara
♥Eyeliner
♥Nail Polish
♥Blush/Highlighter

The card includes the directions on how to transform the shadows into the other 6 makeup medias.

Tops of the full size 5 gram jars.
SSC logo printed on paper sticker labels.

Bottoms of jars.
Eyeshadow name and ingredients.

All jars are vacuumed sealed with plastic.

I will admit that I was disappointed to see this when I opened my package.  I am very OCD about a lot of things.  Makeup is one of the things I am obsessed with when it comes to cleanliness and neatness.  I was not too happy to see that the shadows had spilled out of their jars.

A lot of pigment was on the wrapper.

All of this pigment came from the lid alone.

Loose pigments make for messy hands.

I cleaned up the jars and they look perfect now.  While it seemed like a lot of pigment had spilled out, the jars were really full anyway.  I am guessing that is why they had some spillage.

But it's OK.  Now that my jars are all cleaned up and look tidy and pretty, I'm happy.

And now for the swatches.  **All swatches were swatched on my inner wrist on bare skin.**  Meet the stars of the Fruity Delight Collection:

Grape Pop

Peachsicle

Lime-aid

Passion Berry

Banana Custard

These eyeshadows are FDA approved for wear on the eyes, lips, face, and body.

LFI: Pinkie Promise

Hello, my Pretties!

I think it is time to come clean on what an LFI post really is.

I started doing LFI posts a while back.  I made up LFI to stand for Look For Inspiration.  The reason I started doing LFI posts was to give you all a little inspiration on looks that you can do.  But that is something an EOTD (Eye Of The Day) post can do.

So what is my dirty little secret behind my LFI posts?

My LFI posts are posts showcasing a makeup look I did (probably a while back) and I forgot what products I used!  Ugh!! There.  The truth is out.

Anytime I wear makeup, I do my best to photograph the look to use in a future blog post.  But sometimes, the looks keep piling up in my computer and I never get around to posting them on a timely basis.  Such as, I don't really ever post and EOTD on the day that I actually wore it.  I'll post it when I have time.

The sooner I post my makeup look, it will be an EOTD post where I list the products I used on my eyes.  If I take too long to post the look, it will become an LFI post where I forgot what products I used so I don't list any products and just leave it to you to use what you have in your stash to recreate the look that I "inspired" you with.

Sorry for being sneaky!

And with that being said, here is my latest LFI.

I promise I will start posting more EOTDs (where I list all the eye products used) more often.  And I also pinkie swear to start doing FOTDs (Face Of The Day) again.  In my FOTD posts, I list all products used in the complete makeup look.  I just need to go back to being more organized and write the products down in the order that I used them in my old spiral notebook like I used to do.

Oh well, we are all human.  I'm forgetful and at times lazy.  I admit it.  Hey, maybe LFI should stand for Lazy Forgetful Inspirations.  Haha :)

Favorites: July 2012

Hello, my Pretties!

I know I'm late on my monthly favorites for July but I finally got another camera to start taking pictures with. I did not buy a new one but my sweet-tart found one of his older cameras for me to use.  It's not as high in the megapixel department as the other one but I think it still takes great photos.

Take a look!

July 2012
Monthly Favorites

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

I had heard/read so many raves for this product.  I have always been an avid Clean and Clear user but when I ran out of my regular Clean and Clear cleanser in July, I decided to try something different.  Perfect time to try Cetaphil.  So glad I did.  I am loving it!

Avon SuperShock Max Mascara in Black.

This mascara give me so much length!  At first the formula was a bit too wet and goopy but the more I use it, the better it has become.  I guess the formula is drying up a bit which is good for me.  The brush separates my lashes really well and the boost in length is fantastic.

Avon Super Extend Liquid Eye Liner in Black.

This is my go to eye liner!  I love the felt tip.  It works just like a marker.  The pigmentation is very intense and the tip allows me to get a fine line.  I have finally been able to do a winged liner because of this magic marker!  So, so easy to use.

Givenchy Pop Gloss Crystal in
416 Glitter Pomelo

Can you tell I have been using this gloss a lot?  I am almost done with it.  But it is just so pretty!!  Look at the glitters within the clear hot pink base.  They sparkle and shine as if lit from with in.  I have nothing else like this in my collection.  It is truly unique.  Pure love.

Zoya Professional Lacquer in Myrta.

This is a mini version of Zoya's nail polish that I got for FREE (just paid shipping of $6.95) for a Pinterest Promo Zoya was having.  Of all the 3 mini polishes that came in the set, this one is by far my most favorite.  It is a perfect orange/coral/shimmer.  Love, love, love it!

And that's all I have for you today.  I really wanted to have this posted July 31st, the latest August 1st.  But oh well, you know me.  I'm always running behind!

I plan on having separate blog posts on the Cetaphil Cleanser, SuperShock Max Mascara, and a blog post showcasing all three mini Zoya polishes.  Is that OK with y'all?
