FOTD: Dirty Blue Jeans

I did this look on March 10, 2011. I was a little bored with the looks I had been doing recently and opted for a bolder look without being over the top. I had no plan on what I wanted to do so I just let my creative juices flow and this is what I came up with.

I call it Dirty Blue Jeans. To me I see dirty jeans. I did the blue and the different shades of brown make for a muddy hot mess. Now that I think of it, my look reminds me of my brother's jeans when he was done working on his car with all that oil and grease all over them. LOL. Now I feel like I'm a mechanic! But hotter.

OK, so here is my pair of sexy Dirty Blue Jeans.

Stylish Blogger Award

Hello, My Pretties!

Yesterday, Priscilla presented me with the STYLISH BLOGGER AWARD! Thank you so much, Priscilla in sharing this award with me and for thinking that my blog was worthy of it.

To accept the award, there are a few rules that you must follow. There rules are:
1. Thank and link back to the person that awarded you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award some great bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award.

Last time I received this award was back in the beginning of February. But last time we had to tag 15 bloggers. This time, the number is not specified but I don't want to tag the same bloggers. Even though they are still deserving of this award, I felt that I should share this with other beauty bloggers this time around.

7 Little Bits About Little Ole Me

1. My name was given to my by my older sister who was 5 at the time. Her little friend in school was named Lisa and that was the only name my sister could spell--besides her own. L-I-S-A. Easy.

2. I named my second daughter after a song by Staind. I heard it for the first time right after my first daughter was born but she already had a name. I swore if I ever had another daughter I would name her after the song. "Zoe Jane".

3. In high school I was in love with my best friend. He was in love with me too. We never acted on it afraid it would "ruin the friendship" and I'm glad we didn't.

4. I hate the size and the shape of my nose. But, I will never ever have plastic surgery because it is exactly like my mother's. One day, when she is no longer around, I think I will find comfort in looking in the mirror and seeing a piece of her with me every single day.

5. The men I find most sexy are athletes, firemen, police men, guys who ride bikes (not bicycles but like a Ducati or something along those lines), or musicians. The love of my life is none of these! Doesn't even come close! Yet, he is perfect to me :)

6. I love to laugh. I love to watch stand up comedy. People like George Lopez, Chelsea Handler, Anjelah Johnson, Dane Cook, etc. crack me up. Nothing better than laughing out loud, I'm telling you.

7. I always have a Taylor Swift CD playing in my car when I'm driving. If my sweetheart uses my car, next time I get in, the CD is out. I just think her songs are stories I can relate to. Been there.

I award the Stylish Blogger Award to the following bloggers:

Update: Project 5 Pan

Oh, my goodness, I totally forgot to update you on my venture into Project 5 Pan. I guess subconsciously I was trying to avoid talking about it...

I started my Project 5 Pan on February 1, 2011. I picked out 5 items that I've had for a really, really long time and just wanted to finish them already. The rules I had set up for myself were plain and simple. I could not buy a single makeup item until all 5 items I chose were finished. Completely. Not just "hit pan" but to where it was all pan. I knew that would be hard but I had to do something because I have way, way, way too much makeup.

Trying to be smart, I chose 5 makeup items that I could use all at once to try and finish them faster. Did it work? Well, yes and no. I chose a powder foundation, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and a lip gloss. All neutral colors for an everyday wearable look.

It was working out fine. I finished one item, my powder foundation. But, on March 17, 2011, I ended my Project 5 Pan by placing an order for some mark. makeup. So...yup. I did 44 days of not buying makeup. That is the longest I have ever gone without buying makeup so I see that as a win! 44 days may not be a lot but 44 days of not buying makeup to a makeup addict is hell. Torture.

I do feel sad that I didn't accomplish what I set out to do. But like I said, I feel like 44 days is a small accomplishment all on its own. I came really close to finishing the blush and the lip gloss too. So, I'm still using up those products. I will finish them. Someday.

So, now I'm back to buying makeup once again. Alas, I feel like I can breathe! It's been fun picking up an eye shadow here and there. Now I will have more things to blog about. I hope. I did buy a lot of makeup before P5P that I was going to blog about while on the ban so I had some hauls to show. I didn't get to haul them all but I will post them soon as well as show some of the more recent items I have purchased.

If you are doing a Project (insert number here) Pan, keep at it! You can do it! Maybe I was weak in the end, but you can succeed. And if you don't, it's OK too. No need to feel failure. I do intend to try it again, for sure.

But, not any time soon!

Rimmel London Glam'Eyes Quad Eye Shadow in Thrill Seeker

OK, here comes a post that should have been up last month. It is fashionably late!

On February 13, 2011, my sweetheart went out to CVS to get some toilet paper :) and a couple other little things we needed. When he came back home, I was unpacking the purchases and putting them away. I was a little frustrated but now I can't even tell you why. But I remember being upset because there was one bag left to unpack and it was on the kitchen floor. I grabbed it with an, "Ugh!" and I tossed it onto the kitchen counter. I heard something hard hit. But it was the bag that had the toilet paper in it.

So now I was curious. I opened up the bag, pulled out the TP and at the bottom of the bag was an eye shadow quad for me! What a surprise. Now you know why I call him sweetheart. He was upstairs so I texted him, "Thank you, baby." His reply was, "It's about time you found it." Needless to say, I laughed out loud.

And I have to say, the quad he picked out, wow. I loved the colors.

Without flash. No base.

Wearing all four eye shadows.
I really did like all four colors. I enjoy silver eye shadows but I have been on a hunt for a nice gold one. This gold shade is very pretty but not as pigmented as I hoped it would be. It swatched well but on my eyes it was harder to get it to show up.

I do believe I wore all the eye shadows according to the instructions on the back of the package. It tells you how to do a Subtle Look and a London Look which is the more dramatic of the two.

The silver went on the lid. The moss green in the crease. The gunmetal on the outer V and lower lash line. The gold as a brow highlight.

I am happy to add this to my collection. Very nice colors. Super soft feel to them. They blend easy. Over all, I like!

Wishing you all a lovely day!

Milani Nail Lacquer One Coat Glitter in Silver Dazzle

Yesterday, my sweetheart and our daughter went to CVS to get some saltine crackers and Motts Tots Apple Juice for her upset tummy and when they came back, there was a little surprise in the bag.

I took out a Milani nail polish. "Pretty," I said. "Do you want me to paint your nails later?" I asked my daughter. She, of course, said yes. That's when my sweetheart steps in and says, "It's supposed to be for you." Awww. It turns out our daughter picked out the color. She picked out something she thought I would like. And I did like it. The nail polish looks like Dorothy's ruby red slippers--only silver.

I have never used any product in the Milani line. This is my very first one!

And this is what she picked out...

MILANI
NAIL LACQUER
ONE COAT GLITTER
522 SILVER DAZZLE
0.45 FL OZ 13.2 mL
Price at CVS $1.25 SAVED $3.74!

The color like I said reminds me of the ruby slippers in The Wizard of Oz. It is so glittery! It is a very dark silver. Almost like a light black??? (I am horrible at describing colors...) The glitter is silver. They sparkle like a dress on the red carpet. It is very pretty.

The texture is rough on my nails once it dries completely. The glitter is not as fine as it is in my other nail polishes in my collection. This is the first one I have that feels this way. I have read on other blogs that applying a top coat over this will smooth out the finish. I didn't do that because I do not have a top coat right now. But honestly, the finish doesn't bother me. It's different to me, that's all. I like the color and the sparkle and the way it looks on me.

I only applied one coat because on the bottle it says ONE COAT GLITTER. I do think once coat gives you a very nice application with so much glitter. There were a few spots that could have used more glitter to even out the appearance but a second coat would have fixed that problem.

The problem I did have was that by the end of the day, my nails were starting to chip on the tips of a couple nails. That is usually the problem I have with nail polish as I assume most of you do. Right not the chipping is on two nails. Not major at all. Really doesn't bother me.

Over all, I do like this nail polish. I like how it looks. I like the shade. I like how one coat did seem to be enough to cover the entire nail pretty evenly. I don't have time to do my nails, never mind having to sit and wait for one coat to dry before I can apply a second one. I am afraid to remove the nail polish though because of the glitter. Glitter is a tough accessory to remove. Even the fine sparse micro glitter in my other nail polishes can be a hassle.

I'm just happy that they thought of me. I do have a sweet family. Even though they only paid $1.25 for it, it means a lot to me. I'm a frugalista. Instead of saying, "You ONLY paid a $1.25 for this?" I'm more like, "You ONLY paid a $1.25 for this!!" I love saving money.

Even though this isn't a review, it was a mini semi review. All I need to know now is the wear of it and how hard it is to remove after a few days. I might review this. As for right now, I'm happy with my little gift.

Thanks for stopping by!

LFI: Froot Loops

So this Saturday, March 26, 2001, I was giving my daughters some Froot Loops cereal for breakfast and I was inspired to do my makeup all of a sudden. So ta-da! My Look For Inspiration...

I only used three colors to do this look.

I used a light somewhat bright lime green on my lids. In my crease I applied an orange. And I threw in some purple along the lower lash line. All eyeshadows were shimmery. Very simple. Just three shadows. I really liked the finished look. I hope you will too.

*All eyeshadows were from my Claire's Shimmer Shadow Palette*

Remember this, BE A FROOT LOOP IN A WORLD OF CHEERIOS :)

Review: Bath and Body Works Country Chic Body Lotion

On Saturday my mom got me a little somethin' somethin' from one of my all time favorite stores. Bath and Body Works! I love going in there. OMG, it smells sooo good. I swear I can smell it from five stores down while walking around the mall. Love it!

Sad to say, it's been a few weeks since I've been inside my local B&BW so I didn't know there was a new scent that had arrive. Country Chic. My mom got me the mini body lotion for $1! Very nice.

I know I only got it on Saturday, and today is Monday, kind of too soon for a review but I think I have my mind made up about this product. I have been applying it religiously over the weekend.

This is what it is...

Country Chic body lotion with vitamin E, jojoba, and shea butter. The mini size comes in 2 FL OZ/59 mL. Great size to carry around in your bag. And for the special price of $1, perfect!

I'm partial to B&BW and their products. I tend to enjoy a majority of the scents. This one ranks in there with one of my faves. Let me apply some so I can bask in the scent... It is floral, not my cup of tea usually, but it's so light. It's sweet. The scent reminds me of my mom and the way she smells to me. It's comforting. It's smells like summer. It smells like my childhood.

I can't help but keep rubbing my hands together when I apply this body lotion. It feels sooo good. So smooth. So soft. After application, my skin looks better, younger. Hydrated.

And on the bottle itself, is a coupon to use in store or online for a FREE signature collection body care item of your choice with any new signature collection Country Chic full-size purchase. Up to $12 value. Offer valid April 15, 2011 - June 9, 2011.

So do I love it? I do, I really do.

Review: Avon Skin So Soft Night Body Cream

AVON SKIN SO SOFT NIGHT BODY CREAM SOFT & RELAXED

Size: 200 ml (6.7 fl. oz.)
Price: $8.00 (Regular Brochure Price)
         $1.99 (Clearance Price)
Avon Claims:
"Rich hydrating cream with Patented Soft Touch formula softens your skins as you sleep. Moisturizes on contact and continues to hydrate and condition through the night. Formulated with micro silk powders and Night Blooming Flower, it leaves a soft powder finish on skin as its fragrance soothes and calms. In the morning, skin looks more radiant and feels noticeably softer. Easily absorbed, never feels greasy."

To Use:
Smooth all over body nightly before going to bed.

My Thoughts:
I must admit my initial reaction was not a good one. As soon as I removed the lid, I was disappointed in the appearance. At first sight, the consistency was much too runny and thin. Almost like a lotion when I was expecting a rich cream. I did change my mind upon the first application. The cream applied smoothly and was absorbed into the skin quickly. There was no greasy feeling after application. The scent was pleasant. The slight hint of lavender was mixed in there according to my nose. To me, the scent was calming and relaxing. I did apply this every night after my shower and in the morning, my skin was softer and smoother. This product was a good product. I used up every drop of it.

As I mentioned, the regular brochure price of this night body cream is $8.00. I got mine on clearance, however, for only $1.99! That was a steal.

I did forget to take pictures of the actual cream itself, but there is nothing special to it. It is a pure white cream. Still in my opinion, it's texture is in between a lotion and a cream. Not too runny, not too thick. Does that make sense?

So, would I buy this again? For $8.00, maybe not. That is still a bit pricey for me. It does last you a good while since you use it mainly at night time. For $1.99, of course I would repurchase.

Alright, My Pretties, that's all I have for you for today. Have a fabulous day!

PREVIEW OF WHAT'S TO COME

As you all have probably noticed, I have been avoiding my blog like the plague! And no, I didn't give up blogging for lent although it appears like I have.

As you may also know, I was participating in a Project 5 Pan. Since I was not buying any new makeup items, I had a lot of new products that were still in the bags I brought them home in. I was planning on taking them out bag by bag and doing haul posts on them so that I would have something to blog about during my makeup drought. But I fell behind my planned schedule.

And now, sadly, I failed at my P5P so I still have these baggies with makeup that hasn't been touched. I will still haul these before I start showing you the new makeup I have bought since I met my doom and P5P prevailed over me.

This is just a preview of 3 makeup hauls I have planned to post in the new future. Two are from Avon and one is a CVS Rimmel and Sally Hansen haul.

Avon Campaign 3 Haul.

Avon Campaign 4 Haul.

CVS Rimmel and Sally Hansen Haul.
Seriously, I hope to have these up soon. Super, so very, soon! Seriously!!

Take care, My Pretties!!

TAG: WHAT'S IN MY PURSE

Thanks to my wonderful beauty buddy, Cathy of My Pinktastic Life, I was tagged into doing a "What's in Your Purse" or a "What's in Your Makeup Bag" blog post. I had been wanting to do this for quite some time now. I had asked for everyone's opinion on Twitter whether or not I should do a "What's in My Purse" tag like the kind I see on YouTube. I do not have a YouTube channel so I didn't know if I could do the same tags on my blog. Everyone liked the idea and said I should do it. It was my blog, I could do with it what ever I wanted!

So, I did take some pictures of what was in my bag but I just never posted them. And now that Cathy came along, I am going to show you all what is in my purse. To be fair, I took these pics back February 24, 2011. And to be fair to Cathy, I think I will do a blog post on "What's in My Makeup Bag" next.

There is nothing too fun or crazy in my bag but this is what it usually looks like on an everyday basis.

This is my everyday bag. I love it!
My sister gave this to me for my Christmas gift.
It is from my favorite store, Charming Charlies.
It is big and roomy yet very light weight.
I love the big droopy bow in the front!

My purse is a very good size. I like big bags!
All of this fits in there.
And more!

This is my stuff.
My Hello Kitty wallet I got from Journey Kids.
My daughter, Madison's, coin purse.
My adorable lip coin purse I got from Target on clearance for $2!
My iPhone 3GS with a Juicy Couture cover.
I'm a dork. The iPhone is upside down!
And a giant Little Mermaid pen.

As for my personal items, this is all I have with me.
My CVS hand lotion. Love it.
2 EOS lip balms. Summer Fruit and Lemon Drop.
Lemon Drop is just about gone so I got the Summer Fruit one.
Bath and Body Works hand sanitizer in White Citrus. Love it.
And the ELF clear glitter gloss is from Miss Cathy. Thank you!
And my Avon cuticle balm.

My purse also doubles as a diaper bag.
That's why I like my bags big!
I have to carry a diaper (usually Luvs) and wipies.
I have an array of hair ties and bows for my daughters' hair.
Got to have a lollipop to quiet the little one.
Got to have an activity pad to entertain the older one.
And I HAVE to carry snacks in the Tinkerbell bowl,
usually pretzels, Goldfish, Nilla Wafers...

And this is my bag once I fill it up with my daily things.
My cell phone is in the little pocket on the side to the right.
All my personal stuff (lips, hair, and hand stuff) is in the
zippered pocket off to the left.
That's it!

Finally, this blog post is up. Thanks to Cathy and her tag or else I probably would have never posted it.

Check out Cathy's post here: What's In My Makeup Bag

And so who do I tag... I tag all my fellow beauty buddies who carry a purse and something inside it!
Until next time, My Pretties!!

3/09/11 L'OREAL HIP DUO SERIES: DUO #5 ADVENTUROUS

Hello, My Pretties!

It feels like ages since the last time I posted a new blog entry! I've missed you all. I have been very busy lately. Nothing special. Just my everyday, day to day, life. My daughters take up most of my time and whatever is left, I share it with my sweetheart and my household chores and if there is a few seconds left, I try and squeeze in some time to breathe!

I've been doing great. No complaints over here. Well, maybe just one. I wish I did have more time to blog. I have quite a bit of blog posts that I'm working on to make up for lost time. I know February is a short month but I think I only posted like 12 entries! Wow, that's not nice.

So, I figured that today I would post another entry on my L'Oreal HIP Duo Series I've been working on since January. Crazy that I got 7 HIP Duos in January and I have yet to use them all. Whooops!

OK, well let's do duo #5. (After this one, I have two more to go!)

Adventurous is a very light, very wearable color. The two shades are very feminine and pretty. The light shade is a mix of light gold and nude for me with a slight shimmer. The pink is matte and more along the lines of a coral shade. Very pretty.

And here are the pictures of me wearing this duo on Monday, March 8th.

I like this duo because it is something that you can wear when you don't have a lot of time to do your makeup. It gives you a bright eyed look and you do look more awake and that's a good thing. It takes no time at all to apply. Blends very easily. Hard to make a mistake with it and if you do, it is very forgiving. I think anyone can wear this duo. I did this look in a couple of minutes. All I did was apply E.L.F. Eyelid Primer and then the HIP Duo. I topped off the look with Avon Glimmersticks Eyeliner in Cosmic Brown and VS Beauty Rush Mascara in Ja-va-voom! So simple and looks very sweet.

Well, that's it. First blog post up in a very long time. I have got to get back in the swing of things so I hope to post again later today. Can't wait to hear from you, ladies!

Luv & Luk,
--L.
